I've been wanting a 45 Colt chambered SA for a long time. I just came across a Super Blackhawk Bisley in 454 Casull. After reading some past threads and watching the exploits of our very own @MaxP I have been thinking of going even heavier than the 45Colt. The 454 SBH could scratch both itches. My question is can I expect good accuracy using 45 Colt in a revolver made for 454 Casull? Thanks.
ETA I would probably shoot 90% 45s through it.

The @ 1/20th inch case length difference will not impact accuracy to a perceptible degree. I have a carbine Handi Rifle chambered in 454 casull and 45 LC rounds are no less accurate per se when fired from it. However, point of impact will be significantly different when shooting the one cartridge vs the other. Casull pressures are nearly four time LC pressures and velocities are well over two times faster with a 250 grs bullet. As a result of which, the same bullets really can't be used in both cartridges.

The end result is that many people end up settling on a "Ruger Only" 45LC load. Settling being a relative term. 250 grs at 1400 or 300 grs at 1200 hardly seems like "settling".

I have one, it's a nice gun. I look at it as 5 shot 45 Colt more than a 454 because for what I'd ever use it for, the .45 Colt is more than enough. It's good to have the 454 option but shooting 454 isn't something you're going to want to do much of.

I definitely want one of those some day. As you say, 90% or more shooting would be with .45 Colt +P but the option to go .454 is always nice.

The concerns I’ve heard voiced over the accuracy isn’t over the shorter case length but over the slow (1:24) twist rate of the Casull. The best groups I’ve shot from my .454 Bisley were with .45 Colt loads (albeit heavy .45 Colt loads but nowhere near approaching.454 levels). As far as I’m concerned, that myth has been debunked.

In my opinion, the .454 Bisley makes for a better .45 Colt. It’s okay for limited.454 use. It’s a great .45 Colt however.

I was in the same boat as you but wound up with a SRH. After shooting it a bit I don’t think I will shoot a lot of 45 Colt in it. I know it’s a little different animal but a glove and Houge Tamer grip made it fun to shoot and I really love making a lot of racket when I touch it off. The gloves I use are from Harbor Freight yellow leather padded and fingerless and cheap.
