Anyone used Superformance powder in a 270 Win., 6.5x55 swede, or 25-06. I'm not asking for specs. I just want to know if it is being used in those calibers and how it performed. I talked to a Hodgdon rep and he said, basicly, that it didn't gain anything in those calibers therefore they didn't give any specs. for them in their manual.

There is a very good article in PREDATOR XTREME magazine june 2012 (just got it) that talks about these high energy special niche powders. Basically these niche powders just produce better velocity in certain calibers. Where superformance works in .308 and apparently does not in .270. Not sure how to find it but there might be a niche powder that works in .270. In my opinion im not sure what an additional 100 to 200fps will really help unless you are taking a shot at your bulllets maximum range and that extra fps will help expansion at that range. More of a selling feature.

I'm not as concerned with speed as I am accuracy. I would just like to know if this powder can be used in these calibers. I bought a can thinking I had specs. for my 270 but when I checked again I was wrong. Hornady does sell Superformance ammo in 270 Win. so I figure there should be some specs. somewhere to reload it. I don't want to just throw it away so I was hoping someone had tried it.

I've tried Superformance powder in some cartridges it was recommended for and wasn't that impressed. If Hodgdon doesn't think it's ideal then I think it's unlikely you'll get an exceptionally accurate load with it.

I think we're seeing a proliferation of powders and cartridges where no real need exists and where no advantages accrue except for the manufactures of said items to make more money.
