Okay, I've run out of money, and space, but I still want to be able to buy more 91/30, M44, etc. WWII bolt guns. What are the chances of the supply drying up or getting really costly in the next 5 years?
I had to pony up $400 for mine a few months ago (course it was also cherry, made in 1919, matching numbers, probably only had a few rounds every 10 years put through at the arsenal).
I think there will be plenty around for quite a while and at reasonable rates. They've only scratched the surface of all of milsurp guns manufactured and/or captured by the assorted countries making up the former USSR. Too bad they cannot re-import the NIB Thompson submachine guns in the Russian arsenal. Been in storage since the early 40s and are still wrapped in the original packaging.
However, another gun ban could change all of this.
Yeah... well, if that happens, I go to Canada. My beloved bolt action rifles of WWII are legal there.... ah well. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up another dozen WWII rifles before the supply dries up.
One never know what direction we could go next Fall.
Draconian measures by states, cities, lawsuits and even shipping companies could also put a huge damper on buying with a C&R. Citizens of states such as Illinois, and Maryland are feeling a lot of pressure and some companies flatly refuse to ship legal items to them due to uncertainty of state or city laws.
Although not a milsurp weapon, it would be a good idea to pick up at least one Romanian SAR1 AK. It's those kinds of weapons that concern the gun grabbers.
