I am going to mount a light on my "house-pistol" (Kimber Classic Custom I). I've narrowed it down to either the Surefire X200 or the P101/111 series. Does anyone have any experience with either light? The X200 seemed like the way to go but very early on in their production one of my shooting friends bought one and after a few hundred rounds it broke. Is this common? It got me worried and leaning towards the P101/111 series.

Thoughts, experiences?

Thanks

I have no experience using the X200's as WeaponLights but I can show you the changes (improvements) that SureFire have made to the X200.
Old version on the left & current version on the right:

The Rail Guides now have three screw fixings (per Rail Guide), the spring of the Lever Latch is longer and stronger, there is a Rail-Lock Latch option for an even more secure mounting to the rail. The switches are longer and textured for better activation.

Rail-Lock Latch on the left & Lever Latch on the right (Rail Guides removed in both cases)

It is also easier to get different switch plates (such as the Trigger Guard switch or the SlimLine switch etc) and swap the light between different firearms.

However, the Nitrolon handgun WeaponLights (P-Series) use incandscent light (P60 or P61 lamps) so you get higher output and the ability for the beam to be useful at longer ranges (especially outside and in ambient light). The P-Series does have a disable switch option that the X200 does not current offer. This may or may not be important in your application.
