Late last night, in an innocuous bill to appropriate funds for road repairs, an amendment was tacked on by Rep. Dingel of Michigan to make it legal to own automatic rifles!!!!! It was approved!!!!

this is great news! thanks for the heads up!

some folks are going to be unhappy about all the dough they invested in class three though

Uh, the people of MI can already acquire full autos.

I think it's been 3 years now?

No this ain't an Aprils Fools joke.

BTW, it's possible to just tack things onto a bill when it has nothing to do with the original draft?

Ok, this bill is for more taxes and how to use them......and also to ban Twinkies.

What did spinach farmers have to do with war funding? It's done all the time - by every politician.

Unfortunately, it is not only possible, it is also commonplace.

If there's one thing people of all political stripes should agree on (but won't, of course), it's that this practice should be outlawed. IMHO, anything that is worthy of being made into a state or Federal LAW deserves to discussed and voted on its own merits, and not tacked onto some totally unrelated bill either as a "poison pill" or as an expedient to enacting something that wouldn't stand a prayer of passing if it weren't attached to some must-have-it-now legislation.
