SW 637 (38) vs. Ruger SP101

Prices have definitely spiked in the last few weeks.

Boy, you aren't kidding. The shop I first went in at my hometown had a .357 Taurus Model 66 a month ago. It was $375. This weekend, went back in and it was long gone. He said I can get a Taurus here in one day. Price is now $460 (and no guarantee it will have the required fired shell casing). I said no thanks. Asked him to price the SP101 and GP100 and am still waiting for his call back. Guess he has more business than he can handle.

I have a S&W 637 Airweight. I love it, because it's the most comfortable gun I've ever carried. It's lightweight and small. It isn't the most fun to shoot, but with practice, the recoil isn't as bad as people make it sound. It's not easy to shoot WELL, though. You'll need to practice a lot to get anything resembling tight groups with it.

If you're not going to carry the gun at all, then that negates whatever advantages the S&W 637 might have over the Ruger. I'd say get the Ruger SP101 or GP100, since it's probably cheaper anyway. It's a larger, heavier gun that will be easier to control with the same ammo.
