Just thought I would relate real quickly my quick review of the new scope I purchased and mounted to my new Cooper M52 Jackson Hunter in .280 AI.
Originally I purchased a Nightforce 2.5-10X32mm NXS for this rifle but was unable to get the scope mounted in such a way that the windage turret didn't interfere with proper ejection. :banghead:
So back to the drawing table (and UPS store) I went, and exchanged it for the aforementioned Swarovski with their BRX ballistic reticle.
The scope easily clears the barrel in low rings, and looks good on the rifle (my opinion). Optical quality is outstanding, easily as good as the Nightforce (maybe better but Nightforce makes good glass) and quite a bit better than the Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8X36mm that was living on the rifle before. Color rendition is very good, light management is also top notch, and the glass will hold 10X even in failing light.... easily bright enough to shoot past legal hunting light.
Scope adjustments are solid and consistent, so sight in was easy to accomplish once the rifle was on paper. The reticle is a bit fine, but doesn't seem to wash out against a dark background. It makes shooting small groups or shooting small targets a bit easier. If it proves too fine for hunting I'll consider having it changed by Swarovski to the BRH reticle, which is heavier. I'll have to comment on the hold over bars at a later time since I didn't have time today to test them out.
Overall very pleased.
