Just got my August 2004 Issue of SWAT Magazine. The cover photo is from the course we taught in Colorado earlier this year at the Valhalla Training Center www.valhallatraining.com .

That particular gun is an Olympic Arms 9mm that uses Glock Magazines. This gun was used during a course that we taught. I am very impressed. Whoever did the design, spent some serious time, this thing was flawless and worked great with Glock Magzines with no modifications. I will be adding at least one to our inventory. Now if I can only get them to make one that will work with my Glock 21 magazines. We also got mentioned in the Olyarms Article. It also appears that one of our courses is going to be reviewed in the September issue.

I have to say that the Staff from SWAT Magazine and the Valhalla Training Center are Gentlemen, Professionals, and Great People. Everyone needs to get subscribed to SWAT, as it is a great magazine.

Sully, I am considering getting a 9mm AR for indoor range use (as there isn't anywhere close to shoot .223 outside nearby), and wondering what additional thoughts you might have (or anyone else for that matter) on the Olympic 9mm upper. I am also considering the Rock River 9mm conversion. Thanks!

The idea of a 9mm ar15 has always intrigued me, but I hope they release a model that takes something other than glock magazines. Im not a glock 9mm owner, so the fact that it takes thier magaziens doesnt help me. If it was like the sub2000 and could take beretta or smith and wesson magazines, that would be awesome. Right now Im more likely to get a beretta storm, even though a 9mm upper would be awesome for my ar.

Magazines

Olympics "regular" 9mm upper takes old Sten magazines, which can be bought for around $65 from Oly with a block of steel welded on to make it fit in a normal AR magwell, or are $5 apiece as Sten made them, but you need to buy a SOCOM magwell adapter block for $65 to use them again in an unmodified AR magwell.
