Tactical Belt

Everyone talks about Bug-Out Bags and gear, but I never hear anyone talk about their belts. For Instance, mine tries to fill all needs. Suspenders for support, Canteen, Knife, General Purpose small pouch (can hold shotgun shells or survival equipment or loose rounds), Mosin-Nagant Pouch (can hold 30 rounds on clips of any of my four surplus rifles), and a German AK pouch (holds 4 magazines). I'm going to add a butt pack. What do you guys use for a Tactical Belt?

Get a regular belt or suspenders for you pants, then get a 2 1/2" or wider belt for you gear. Trust me, trying to carry large amounts of gear on the type of belt that normally fits in most belt loops and leave you with very sore hips.

Try some of these:

A cowboy style cartridge belt: holds a bit of ammo, and pretty wide.
A WWII Infantry belt: Lots of pockets for garand clips that can hold other things.
A Vietnam style web belt: Sturdy, the basis for most load-bearing vests (LBV).
A modern military style LBV or H-harnes: has the added benefit of shoulder straps to take weight and increase carying capacity.
Any of the many tactical vest out there.

Edit: when I am in the woods I only carry my knife an gun on my belt and everything else in a backpack; mainly because most of the types of belts I listed above get in the way of a pack's waist-belt.

You can't beat a real gun belt from one of the gunleather makers.

For all that stuff you might as well get an ALICE harness and belt.

This is seperate from your pants belt, as you should not be hanging all that gear from something you can not easily remove.

Either the Y or H harness will work, Eagle also makes an H harness with wider shoulder straps, and an optional carrier for a 3 liter hydration bladder.

Make sure you balance your load side to side and front to rear as best as you can, or you will feel it later. Try to keep the weight down, more than 20 lbs. and you should have a pack for the excess.

I use a GI issue LBV (load bearing vest). Well, its actually just suspenders and a belt. On it I have 3 pouches, a canteen and a magazine pouch on my shoulder. The pouches have a medical kit and gun cleaning gear. One pouch has a folding rod, some patches, oil and solvent. The other has a complete cleaning kit. The med kit is full of basics. The mag pouch will hold either 4 glock magazines or 8 stripper clips for my SKS. I also have a shotgun shell bandolier with 25 shells.

Complete vest kits are wonderful. Try to get a Air Force Survival vest. That thing just has thousands upon thousands of pockets! You can hold ammo, med-kits, cleaning kits, maps, knives, tools, food, water everything! Best bet for good vests are Shotgun News, Soldier of Fortune...well basically every gun magazine has some good stuff in there.

I just have a 1.5" wilderness belt, really haven't given the issue much thought.

Bump on the Mitch Rosen gun belts. Had mine for many years, worn daily, great shape (just could use a bit of polish). Per this thread, it is made just for a gun holster and 1-2 other things (mag holster, handcuffs, flashlight, etc). It's a fashion-level design (the kind of thing you would wear with a suit), not for bugging out.
