I was going through some of my accumulated junk and found this "BSA Varmint Hunter LLCP" flashlight/laser thing that I had picked up second hand at a gunshow a while back.

I never had any real use for the thing, I'm not sure why I even bought it, so it's been just gathering dust until today when I thought to myself... Hey, I bet that's the right size to fit on my Mossburg Maverick.

So just for giggles allow me to present the Mossburg Maverick 88 Field "All Purpose Tactikool" model! :D

Note the handy full length barrel! :D

First of all, it's a very personal choice. Whatever additions give one confidence, or enhance one's effectiveness at engaging a perp are worth adding. To me, it makes complete sense to have both a tactical light and a laser on any home defense firearms, be it an AR, a shotgun or pistol. I ask the following: Can it hurt? No! I have an M6 laser/light on my 1911 and on my AR. Why not a shotgun?

You're going to scare the living crap out of those ducks.... :neener:

I think it's small enough to be handy - leave it on there. You never, ever know... I think tactical accessories are an effective way to enhance a weapon and heighten it's utility. I think however, for me anyway there is a limit as to how much stuff I want hanging on my gun....Still, I'm a fan of lights and lasers if they're used properly....How bright is the light?

Actually it really is a decently bright light that runs on one 3volt CR123 battery.

seems practicool to me
Its hard to properly hold a shotgun while holding a flashlight in one hand

Neat (totally unplanned) thing is that when the pump is forward I can tap both light and laser on/off with the edge of my first finger. I was going to use the "tape switch" for the laser but it won't stick on the ridged pump handle.

Really I stuck the thing on there for no good reason other than I have it, but now that it's on there I kinda like it.

I gave the same light to my nephews for their .22 rifles last Christmas. The manufacturer warns against using on magnum rifles. Apparently, the heavy recoil causes damage to the unit. I'm not sure how shotgun recoil compares to a magnum rifle, but I'm thinking It wouldn't hold up to a lot of shooting from either.

Manufacturer: BSA - Mfr# SCP222
Laser and Light Combo BSA Precision Laser and light clamps on your scope, perfect for varmints or tactical applications, complete with remote curly power cord, switches, and batteries, easy to install and works on any one inch scope with objective bell up to 50mm, not for magnum rifles.

It may not last, I doubt the bulb is up to a lot of shock from recoil (Surefire spends a LOT of R&D $$$ to build lights that can handle that). But I wasn't using the combo for anything else so what the hey, it'll last as long as it lasts.

Yeah, you never know - may outlast you. I have a cheap Brinkman on my Remington 870 camp gun and it's still holding up...

I would not take to field with that 27" configuration.
If you could use the laser to sight in for slugs out to 50-75 yards, it would be viable for hogs and deer, but the flash light could get you a "jacklighting" rap from the Fish & Game Dept.

Drop to an 18.5" bbl and use it for indoor pest control.

I don't hunt so it's a non issue :D

Basically I bought this shotgun dirt cheap at a pawn shop so it is what it is. If I'm worried about indoors varmits I have a lot of other options at hand but thanks, I do appreciate that you guys are looking out for me.

Really, the whole "tactikool" thing was a joke. I just had the parts sitting around and I was bored so I stuck it all together. :D

I'm a little bias... I love "tactikool" Maverick shotguns! Here's mine. ;)

I'd say keep it on there. Any advantage you can gain in indoor pest control is good. And, even if it only lasts that one time, it's not a bad thing. Unless the BG brings all his zombie friends with him.

Wish I had a laser on mine!
Here's my tacticool shotty:
