Ohio started Monday and I’ve been seeing deer but passed on several smaller doe just because I didn’t feel like field dressing and dragging. Yesterday i headed to my 2nd best spot which looks over a small ravine that is super thick and there is a field behind it. I was on the ground, on the hillside when i see 2 guys wearing orange suits cross the RR tracks and start heading my way right down the middle of the field. I whistle and they stop and keep coming. At one point they stop and he puts his hands up like what?? They turned around and decided to sit 75 yards off the opposite treeline, sitting in the middle of the field in fold up chairs facing me and 2 houses.

Yesterday i crawled into a 25ft box blind overlooking a bedding area. The blind has a buddy heater and office chair so its comfy. I forgot my phone in the truck so i was forced to take in Nature. I could hear some chasing in the bedding area but couldn’t see anything. The noise went away for about 30min and I started nodding off. I was in that kind of asleep but can still hear whats going on and it sounded like antlers smacking together. I again searched the bedding area and nothing. Moments later i hear more noise and look out 40yards to this guy fighting a sapling. I took the shot inside the blind with my 45-70 (shell shock and pretty sure the muzzle blast blew out a window). He took off running hard so i threw another round at him. Realizing i forgot my phone and we usually text each other when we are in and out of the stand in case someone falls so i went back to the truck for my phone. My buddy climbed down to help me look and we found spotty blood and followed it 100yards to where the deer lay. He has character with a broken G3 that is snapped off.

I decided after sweating to death, wheezing and feeling like i was dying to call it a season and relax until i return to work the 6th.

Now the debate is shoulder mount or not. IMG_5884.jpeg IMG_5884.jpeg
