I am attending a show in Atlanta in a couple of weeks and need to know if it is legal to bring a handgun with me to the hotel I will be staying at (the show is also at the same hotel). I have a CCW permit in Virginia but I see that Georgia and Virginia don't have CCW reciprocity agreement (which makes no sense to me). I know that I can drive through Georgia with a handgun but not sure if it is okay to have one if I'm going to be staying there a few days. Thanks in advance.

If you go to GeorgiaPacking.Org there is a pretty good breakdown of Georgias firearms laws.

go get a PA non resident and you will be able to carry.... well your convention might be a public gathering but who knows since there is not a definition of what one is....you can keep it in your hotel room just encase it to and from your hotel room

Think carefully about what you will do with the weapon when you are not in the room. Motel and hotel rooms are not secure. Computers, jewelry and firearms are not good things to leave around....

I'm not sure, but here's a link to our gun laws. I'll do a little research too.

http://www.georgiapacking.org/law.php

(f) On and after October 1, 1996, a person licensed to carry a handgun in any state whose laws recognize and give effect within such state to a license issued pursuant to this part shall be authorized to carry a handgun in this state, but only while the licensee is not a resident of this state; provided, however, that such license holder shall carry the handgun in compliance with the laws of this state.

Sorry, couldn't find any loopholes. Since you'll be in Atlanta, be advised that my grandson's truck was broken into right across from his hotel in downtown Atlanta a few months ago.

MODEL 65 - "... you can keep it in your hotel room ..."

Yep, the hotel maid who cleans your room will be more than happy to give your pistol to her boyfriend. ;)
