Tancredo asks for border official's head

"If Mr. Nicely was acting on orders from officials higher up in the border bureaucracy, more heads should roll. Congress needs to exercise more active oversight of our border security."

Ya, that's great. Except the majority of congress doesn't seem to care about the borders You know which head should roll over this? I'll give you a hint, he is named after his father, who was also a President.

Why Nicely gave the order is particularly suspicious, because if he had promoted the success of the Minutemen, he could be making a case for getting more staff. Not wanting success in border control sounds like a motive from higher up. I would think a concern about vigilante activity would come from higher up, as would a motive to not really be serious about border control.

Senators know this and wouldn't bother unless they sensed blood in the water. You gotta know they want more than this guy's head. It's Abu Ghraib all over again.

I have to agree with the people who don't think Bush should be held responsible for Nicely's actions.

On the other hand it does appear clear that they share a very similar policy line, as do an awful lot of government leaders. PERHAPS we should endeavor to consider that they all may be getting their policy tips from a higher source, and condemn them.
