For me, distant target = steel = spotting scope.

Have not (yet) sprung for a drone. Do have an adapter to fit the cellphone to the spotting scope--so I have a "galaxy"-sized view of what the spotter "sees."

My old range in PA had a steel plate out at 100 yards. Sadly most of the local ranges don't have steel to shoot at. The one that does is pricey (for me at least) and is a light hike to get to it.

I toy with the idea of a remote target camera. The reality is I don't shoot more than three hundred yards. I can hardly see shot holes at fifty.

There is a drone that will no longer fly (AKA free), sitting on the ground in front of the target 100 yards away. It’s sending the image to the phone I am holding up.
In this video, is a little camera TX/RX that I purchased for my model rockets and aircraft (intended use). The TX is powered by a 9 volt battery, RX by 12 (deer feeder battery) and works very far, line of sight.
I must admit to generally just using a good spotting scope though.

I bought a cheap drone for stuff like this.
When I got it and read the directions, it required me to download the Tik-Tok app to my phone.

Hmmmmmm. One of the kids Drone Christmas presents only lasted a week. One of the motors seized on it. so I may have to reclaim it just to test this.

My guy holds the target up for me too. Better yet, I still use a target scope. My target holding guy IS SO EXPENSIVE!!. He must think, I'm made out of money. lol

Mine only requires a bag of beef jerky. But that's as expensive as 30 rounds of 9mm.

Nah, the nuts over on the skeet range keep shooting them down. seeing one of those buzzing about is an automatic "doubles" for them.
Come to think of it, that might be a cool new sport, "sporting drones". Might get a bit more expensive, though.Seriously, though, I either use the targets that show a contrasting "splatter", or I can hear the steel ring, or I can see the strikes through my scope.

FAA actually makes that most of illegal, even when in trespass (when the operator has an FAA license).

Never tried a drone, I'd probably crash it. I have used the target cams and really like them.

I don't shoot far enough to justify the purchase of drone.
This is an interesting enough topic that it should not require a teaser title for the thread. I will edit to clarify subject matter.

I bought one of these last quarter but have not tried it out yet. Since my club recently hung steel at 500, "seeing" has been less of a need. Cheaper than many drones.
