Folks, a side project of mine is getting a target rifle setup with my TC Contender frame. It's currently sitting as a .30-30 14" pistol scoped for deer at 50yds and I want to use another barrel for benchrest target shooting.
Since there is such a varied selection of calibers out there, I'd like to hear what you've found to be the best shooting caliber out of what length barrel on your TC. My goal with this rifle will be for shoots at the local range, 100 / 200 yd benchrest, normally aiming at aspirin or paintballs (or whatever else small the range officer decides to use). Once I've settled on a barrel, I will be spending at least double the cost on the glass.
Currently leaning towards .22 Hornet, or a .221 Fireball but still just looking and debating cost / accuracy @ 200yd / and finally pressure on the Contender frame... thoughts?
