Picked up a new Taurus 24/7 OSS tactical .45 ACP, 5.25” bbl in stainless steel a couple of days ago. There are 4 other .45s here including a Glock 30, Sig P220, Taurus PT145 and a Ruger P90. The Ruger feeds everything but all the others balk occasionally with SWC loads. The OSS had slight feed problems with Plated SWC loads also. I expected this so I’m not too disappointed.
Over 200 rounds of other assorted loads including Ranier 200gr PFP & PHP, Berry’s 200gr PHP and Hornady 185gr JHP functioned flawlessly. Powders used included WST, WSL, W231 and Unique. All were midrange loads except the Hornady 185s w/Unique. They were slightly less than max listed in my manual.
The OSS is very accurate if you can hold it still. I cannot unless I use a pistol rest and with the rest it probably (I didn’t measure too closely) averaged 2” or so at 20 yards. It might have been better but the wind was blowing causing my eyes to water some. Any excuse is better than none I say. The grip on the OSS is slimmer than I’m used to and I was worried a little about that but it didn’t bother my shooting any. I love the way the Ruger P90 fits my hand and shoots but I have to say the Taurus OSS Tactical is the most comfortable centerfire semi-auto I have ever fired. Sorry that I didn’t have any factory ammo to report on but I think it will probably feed factory fodder just fine also. I sure hope the wife doesn’t take it away from me.
