here she is..nothing fancy but I will replace the grips with CT grips as soon as the fund allows..

There's a zillion different Taurus snubbies.

Roll the cylinder out and look behind the crane. Model number should be stamped there.

Sounds like you got a deal. Congrats.

save the +P stuff for carry. aside from the occasional cylinder full, you should shoot standard velocity ammo for less money, recoil, and muzzle blast.

Nice gun and congrats.

Thanks guys for the comments,i'll just try probably 50rounds of the +P just to be sure that i can get decent groupings and yes i did check and its +p rated..

Budget gun, budget ammo, budget holster, premium performance, I love the pic. I have two of them and like them very much, among the better Taurus offerings I feel.

I leave one at my sisters house just like yours but the ch bobbed hammer version for her to defend herself with.

You have a very nice little gun. I'm usually not a big fan of snubbies but they have their uses when you're somewhere you want one really concealed. I wear this model 85 at family gatherings, church functions, and other places where more genteel type people are expected.

what you have is a pre "BrazTech" gun...in other words...pre merger between Taurus & Rossi; you have an older one: wood grips (hang onto them...they are hard to acquire & good ones enhance value of handgun), long gradual front sight, no internal lock at base of hammer; older style cylinder release...nice piece;

as others have said, you don't need to run a ton of +p's thru her; use vast majority of standard loads for practice & 'proof' the gun and acclimate to recoil with +p's; I no longer have a Taurus, but I have used the Remmy UMC +p's from time to time when the Winchester WWB Personal Defense variant of the same load is scarce; both are decent loads, but the Winchester has less muzzle blast & audible report when I ran the 2 side by side in a darkened indoor range

Is that a NIB 85? It looks great.
I believe kmrcstintn is correct. They have not come with wood stocks for quite a while, as far as I know.
My 2" and 3" are mid 90s vintage with wood stocks. I keep them loaded with +P, but shoot about 75% warm standard reloads. That only amounts to a total of about 300rounds a year, though. Enough to keep me familar with them.

Regards
Old 112

I like how some of the older wood grips for these have a nice looking orange shade to them.

I'm wearing a stainless M85 with Hogue grips on my ankle right now... never had an ankle holster until last week.

Ankle carry, at least for a BUG, is awesome!
