I was in my lgs this afternoon.
The owner asked what I was looking for....
I told him it was like when you walk up to the frig and stare inside.......
You're not really hungry....you just want something...
How about a $400 Taurus 445 44spl?
Hmm......maybe? I dunno....I swore off Taurus....
It says it's titanium......
5 shot big bore.
New caliber......
Shiny.......o_O
Snubby....

What say you, friends?

I like current production Taurus because they work and are a great bang for the buck, but older Taurus I'm hesitant, however you are not going to find many Titanium revolvers at that price and .44 Special is going to be more commonly found in snubs than .45, so I would do it.

That $400 is going to be worth $350 by this time next year anyway.

The titanium guns bring a pretty solid penny. That seems CHEEEEP. Of course verify that, but in my book that one was worthy of the argument about un-necessary spending and whatnot.

I lucked into a 2in. 445. Not the ultralight. My ex boss didn't want a 44 spcl belly gun. Got it for 200$ years back. Love it. Accurate for what it is, shot several hundred rounds and no issues. Decent trigger. I wouldn't sell it for 400.

I gladly paid $425 for my 431, $500+ after shipping/taxes/transfer.
I'd buy an adjustable sight version if it came along.
I prefer steel guns just because the weight helps with recoil... but a titanium .44spcl would be pretty neat.

I have the stainless version that I picked up used and it has been trouble free so far. Someone did a WECSOG bob job on the hammer but I was able to source a replacement that dropped right in. Unlike more recent specimens, the barrel ports are not inset so the front sight gets blackened as I shoot. This would not be a problem except that I had to paint the front sight to add a bit of contrast, which I then have to clean off periodically so I can see it again. For $400, I would buy the Ti version but 44 Special is a cartridge I load.

I have a Taurus Titanium. Great gun.

$400 is incredibly cheap for one. Unless there is something visibly wrong with it, I'd have thrown my wallet at them so hard they'd be at risk of a concussion.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a "Cake or Death" question. :p

The Titanium 445s in 45 Colt routinely go for $600+ and they are a very unique gun. K frame size five shot ultra light big bore. Not many iterations of those ever produced.

44 Spl vs 45 Colt in this gun is a coin flip and personal preference. The 445 is not a high pressure gun for Elmer Kieth loads anyway.

I owned one that was blued steel. It was fine. It went bang every time. No problems. The trigger was a bit stiff.

I traded it towards something else after I got a couple of Rossi 720's, but there was nothing wrong with it.

I would think that with skeeter loads the 445 would be a great wilderness carry. Even were the big bears live.
I have a 415 41mag that is the same frame size. It will fit in my cargos front pocket.

I picked up a 431 a couple years ago. Stainless. Not even close to my 624 but I can take it places I wouldn’t want where it might get scratched up. Or lost. Bushwhacking along and in my creek.
Taurus has been pretty good in the bigger revolvers, other than the Judge with their grossly oversized chamber mouths.
