So I really want an 8 shot .357. I love revolvers and the idea of having 8 shots on tap just makes me smile. I really like the S@W TRR8 but I don't like the price. The purpose of it would be a nightstand gun. No competition or heavy use. The 608 is much cheaper but I have never owned or even fired a Taurus. I know Taurus seems to be a polorizing manufacturer but I would like some opinions either way. Right now my Nightstand gun is a Colt Anaconda with 6 shots of Specials, which I love but 8 does beat 6.

It would suck, for your Anaconda to sit in a police evidence locker while the shooting is being sorted out.

I've owned 10 or 11 Taurus handguns, since 1992.
I've had no trouble with any of them.

I prefer Colt, Ruger, and Smith, but I wouldn't pass up a good Taurus.
8 rounds of .357 is hard to argue against.

I had that thought about the Anaconda getting bagged for evidence as well but thought that might sound extreme so I left it out. But it is a good point. It's why I don't use my Python for home defense. You know I do need a cheap revolver. All my wheel guns are Snakes. Thanks for the reply.

Had a 608, no problems. A little big for me. I like the 627 Tracker 4" and a 617 2" better. They are 7 shooters.

I had two 608s I bought new, one worked fine from day one, the other had a cylinder that would freewheel in either direction. Taurus picked it up and returned it fixed in just a few days.

I found both guns to be accurate with decent triggers. I kept them until I realized I didn't really need 8-shot range toys.

They were fine, and certainly worth the $500 or so they each cost.
