Taurus 669- Decent Revolver?

From what I remember the 669 is basically the size of the S&W L frame and its a 6 shot ,lm not sure when it was replaced with the 7 shot 66
But from I have heard they are great revolvers

You may want to ask the question over on Taurus Armed ..

I had other Taurus that caused some timing problems, but my 669 was a very good gun. The only problem I had with it was the red insert came out of the front sight. It did have an excellent trigger.
I traded it off years ago, but it was a good gun. Someone got a bargain.

I had one, briefly, about 10 years ago, before gifting it to someone. It's a solid gun, I just didn't care for it. Accurate, with a better trigger than I expected. I just didn't care for the large grip.

It's a k-frame 357 magnum. The Model 66 was the base model. The Models 669 and 689 were slightly fancier.

I've owned two Model 66 variants and two of the 38 special version (Model 82). They've all been fine. Zero problems with any of them.

It's basically a copy of a Smith (except with a coiled mainspring and transfer bar safety), and Taurus has been making them for 40-something years. They have it figured out by now.

This is the Model 689. For a extra few dollars you got the vented rib.

I have 2 669s. One from 1988 i paid $85 for brand new. Only issue I had was rear sight screw loosening and rear sight parting company from the top strap. The only from 1988 has had a bazillion 357s through it. Trigger heavy but not something you can't work with.

Always been interested in the 'right' Taurus. Only a few new ones available here locally and this pre-owned one has appeared for auction. Read that many owners are pretty happy with them, and they have a good trigger. Is this model worth pursuing? Listed as 'excellent' condition.

Notice that little hole up by the rear sight? Points to it being an old gun. Internally going to be somewhat different from current Taurus revolvers.

I'd do the usual revolver checkout. Endshake, side play, pushoff, buggered screws, clocked barrel, all that. Use a feeler gauge to check cylinder gap.

Bought a 669 in 1992 and it was a very good shooter 6 inch barrel, I miss it, traded it for a down payment for a car, hoe much are they asking?
