Taurus 66ss 4" price check

A friend has a Stainless Taurus 66 4". He says it was bought in '87. It looks like it is in good condition.

What would the private sale value range be for it?

If I were wanting a weapon like that, I would pay no more then $285.00. The model 66 is a fine weapon. I have a 4in SS in model 669. I love it. I would not part with it.

I did some research, Gun Broker, Armslist, etc. I found that locally new will go from $380 to $430 and used listed from low $200s to low $300s. What the used are actually selling for, who knows. A local pawn shop has a blued in a good condition for $299. That shop is usually marked up a bunch and will heavily discount if you negotiate.

I'm late with this, but that seems like a good price.

I own 66 from about that time period.

Mine is blued with the 4 inch barrel. It's still serving well and never had any problems what so ever.

Several years ago I went and bought a new stainless 66 with a 4 inch barrel and its 'giving sterling service.

I own 17 Taurus revolvers of various calibers and all are reliable.

$250 to $300. It's an older vintage 66. I think they're better built.

I have an 80s vintage I gave 180 for, shoots fantastic, great carry. I bought it about 6 years ago, so I'm thinking in todays dollars upwards of 225 to 250 would probably be a deal, no more and that would be in low wear. Mine has a lot of holster wear, but not much end shake or looseness.

I have an early 90s, pre MIM, pre lock, but newer transfer bar trigger system. It has a better DA and SA trigger than the older hammer block trigger 66 which is my 80s model. I think early 90s are the best ones from personal experience, but I wouldn't turn down the 80s model for a reasonable price. Mine's a tack driver.

I picked it up during the last week. The misses and i took it out and it was a hit. She can easily handle it and i love it. The trigger is typically long, smooth and seem a little lighter than S&W J frames. It is more accurate than i am and i couldn't be happier.

Good lookin' gun! I like stainless, myself. Yes, my 66s are quite smooth, especially the 4" gun mid 90s issue. It's actually a better pull (lighter) than my K frame early 60s Smith M10 and the single action is awesome, too.

Nice lookin' Taurus. I have a blue 6" 669 from '82 and have been very happy with it. My thinking when I got it was that any issues would have been already taken care of.

I think I would have had to jump on that 66 as well. Then I could say I own Taurii.
