Tennifer black finish... definitely a step up for Taurus. Nice to see some more companies recognizing the harsh environments in which their pistols will be used.
I really am looking forward to this pistol in .45 ACP, assuming the action is all it's cracked up to be.
The description says it's based on the 24/7 OSS pistol, but by looking at it, too many things in the picture suggest otherwise. The teardown appears to be a large diversion from previous pistols in the Millenium & 24/7 pistol lines. Also the frame is not the same shape (extended beavertail) and cannot be the same, as the hammer must be mounted to the inside of the frame, as opposed to the current model's striker-fired setup contained within the slide assembly. That's gotta be the biggest difference.
I'm curious how the trigger pull will feel (will it be like the 92 series?) & if we might eventually see a double action only version at some point.
You're right, it does look cool.

I love the way they market "STRIKE-TWO CAPABILITY" and how
If you have had a hard primer and the gun misfires, the 800 Series senses this and automatically gives you instant "Strike Two" capability by resetting the trigger for automatic double action re-strike. No need to do anything else, simply pull the trigger.

And this is different from any other DA/SA.......how? Good marketing on their part though. Taking something as simple as DA/SA playing on the tactical advantage and making it sound like something unique to Taurus guns.

Meanwhile, I have been seeing pics of this gun in their "new products" page on their site over a year now. This is only slightly less elusive than the magnesium revolver they came up with at one point.

At least it seems more real than the Glock carbine that some people are still holding out for!!!

+1, I like the thought of the pistol on paper, but Taurus has developed a habit of advertising products that never seem to materialize... in the computer industry they call this vapor ware. Lots of talk and hot air about a product which never seems to make it to market as planned or on time. If and when it arrives it will deserve a good look, but I'm not waiting on Taurus anymore.

Kahr's don't have second strike capability...do Glocks, XD's, or M&P's?

Fogdor- The guns you mention are striker fired. Not DA/SA.

DA/SA guns are guns like the S&W 5906, Beretta 92fs, CZ75b (and derivatives thereof), a lot of the Sigs, etc....
