Was looking around for some time. In Lieu of getting the Taurus 65/66, I found a Taurus M82 through the Kentucky Gun Co website. Price wasn't bad and I like the fact that it holds 6 rounds and a 4 inch barrel.

2 questions

1. Has anyone done business with Kentucky Gun Co? I've only done business with Buds and Grabagun. Are they just as good?

2. Does anyone have experience with this specific revolver. I have a Taurus blue Titanium that is lightweight. It is rated for +P ammo. I reload and have found that a 125 gr with TG is, for me, the best combination for that firearm. Sure it will fire +p ammo, but because it is the lightweight model (~15 oz) it isn't pleasant (meaning I don't like shooting more than 25 rounds of +p ammo per range session). Is the 82 comfortable when firing 158 gr +p ammo (recoil wise). I'm not recoil sensative, but the blue Taurus 85 is a small snubnose revolver that makes even someone like me with medium hands feel like the revolver could use a longer grip. It is excellent for CCW, but the tradeoff is weight. The Taurus 92 in comparison is double the weight.

TIA

We have a Taurus 82. Got it as a police trade in from a local shop.
My wife shot my Sig 2022 .40 and didn't like the recoil. We went to the shop and she handled a few guns and liked the way the Taurus felt.

It's her nightstand gun, and she does fine with it. It's heavy enough that recoil is negligible. The sights are very average but it is accurate enough for its intended use.

THX. I told my kids that when they each move out, They can have any one of my firearms they so choose. My second said, I like the Heritage Rough Rider 22. I can shoot it well and it's easier and has less recoil than all your other guns. Hopefully she'll like the 82 better and take that one. The sights are the same style, and she's right handed so I'm hoping it'll be a good transition. Plus I'd feel better about her having a 38 vs a 22 for SD-assuming she chooses a revolver when the time comes.

I bought two so-called "assault rifles" from KyGunCo, one in 2014, and one in 2015, and a Henry lever later in 2015. All transactions were as smooth and prompt as any I've done through Bud's.

The Taurus 82 is essentially their version of a Smith and Wesson Model 10, and was issued for some time to members of various police agencies in the Latin-American region (and I think even in Spain.)

The closest in experience I have is with the Smith and Wesson Model 67, a four-inch, .38 caliber relative to the Ten (stainless, and with adjustable sights.) The recoil from 158-grain ammunition is noticeable, but easily managed, and with lighter ammo (such as my agency's 95-grain Silvertips, which I felt were far too light for LE use), almost like shooting a .22. I keep my current four-inchers, including my 67, loaded with a +P 125-grain SJHP round just because it's readily-available around here (or was, at least.)

I don't know if the gun you're looking at is "rated" for +P ammo because I don't know its age, but I'm confident that a steady diet of "regular" practice ammunition, and occasional use of +P, including for defense, will not harm the service-ready Model 82.

THX. It is rated for +P ammo. Interesting because KY Gun Co is the only online dealer that I found the Taurus 82. Everywhere else I've looked I've only found 38 specials with 2 inch barrels.

I'm looking forward to receiving the firearm and putting some of my reloads through it. The only firearms that I've been using +p ammo are my 357 magnums. They handle just like you said "22lr" However, I like shooting 357 rounds over 158 +p ammoon my 357's. It just feels better to me. I'm hoping the Taurus 82 will not only feel and handle better than my Taurus Titanium, I hope it hits at the point of aim. It has fixed sights, but i have a Taurus 905 in 9mm with fixed sights as well and it is sighted to the point of aim. My Taurus titanium is very accurate when I use 125gr ammo with Titegroup or W231 powder. It also feels excellent on the hand with almost no recoil.

THX.
