One of the guys that I work with has his Taurus 85UL for sale. He's asking $275 and it's in 90 to 95% condition. I really don't need another snubbie. Any opinions on this gun good or bad?

Line Rider, I am leery of Taurus, both new and used. If you don't need another snubbie, save your money. The 85 series is the only bright spot in the Taurus line, if you want to help the guy at work with some Xmas money. orchidhunter

I have 12 Taurus handguns, some approaching 30 years old. They have uniformly been reliable, accurate, and durable. The "bright spots" include the PT92/99, PT100/101, PT58, Model 82, Model 66, all of which have been in production for decades, and are reported to be trouble-free. The Model 85 is a good gun, with few problems. I have a pair, one is an old Model 85CH, the other a Model 85 SS. :)

My 12 year old M85SSUL is still going strong.

I have been happy with mine. Shoots to point of aim, accurate, has nice grips, sights, trigger pull, finish is excellent. I took the sideplate off and examined the internals. The machine work is equal to a modern S&W, very high quality.

The later Taurus's appear to be better built than the early 90's stuff. The later pistols, it is apparent that Taurus upgraded its manufacturing, and took a long hard look at what features customers wanted.

No problems with mine. I don't have a ton of ammo through it but it has run about 500 or so rounds without a problem.

Line Rider, I have one of the 85ul revolvers and although I am a big Smith & Wesson I have nothing but good things to say about the little revolver. It was bought for my wife and she also loves it. It has a good trigger pull and shoots good for a snubby.
