i may be needing i believe its called a striker end cap or plate for my g2c, where online can i find these? taurus probaby won't send one as i was told only sights are the only slide part that can be sent. the reason i may need one is i took it a part to clean the striker assembly, and when i got up to go to the john, my 7 year old seemed to take a liking to it. he misplaced it somewhere and doesn't remember what he did with it. i am still hoping we find it but want to see if any online sites may have one, even a aftermarket one would be fine. my son a few weeks ago while cleaning my ruger security 9, took the recoil assembly and tried to put it in one of his toy autos, he ended up bending to rod and i had to call ruger. after the customer service guy stopped laughing he said he would send one out which arrived a week later. wish taurus would ship small stuff, thanks for any help and wish me luck that i find this one.

taurus calls it the slide cap part # 26 but i now see that the slide cap plate #25 is missing too. dog gonnit, when it rains it pours. still looking both online and in house without any luck.

Only suggestion that I have is to look on GunBroker or AuctionArms for a "kit". Several vendors sell parts kits from guns destroyed by/for police departments. You have to buy the whole kit to get the one or two parts you need, but sometimes it is the only way.

i can't find anything online, i will chat tomorrow with taurus, i guess i will be carrying my ruger security 9 in the mean time. if taurus doesn't help and i can't find the part, then a friend has offered to buy the gun for a parts gun as he has one that he carries. until taurus sells small parts i will save for another ruger, even if its my fault ruger has always treated me good. i hope taurus does ok as the gun shoots good, i would even pay for the part if they will send it. i will update tomorrow. thanks

looks like taurus won't let any slide parts out, so my g2c is gone to my friend if i can't find the parts here at home. i have untill friday when he gets paid to find them. will take that money and save a few months and get another ruger security 9. thanks

Unfortunately Taurus has a bad rep for customer support that goes back at least 30 years. I quit selling them in my shop for that reason. No/slow response to customer problems, parts not available, guns not working right out of the box, two years to get one gun repaired and it still did not work when it came back. So much promise, so little actual performance. I hear that they are better, but your experience says otherwise.

they did send me sights that came loose on me a few weeks back and a recoil spring assembly when i bought the gun all for free, i was told tho any parts in the slide that has to do with firing can't be let out, however i received a call from a lady that said she was assistant superviser about an hour ago, she said that to call back tomorrow and she will try to approve me the cap and plate but all other firing components in the slide are a no sell. she said they would run close to $20 maybe a little less but won't know for sure till tomorrow. so even tho taurus could do better, i do believe they are better than they were. still a long ways from ruger but since this was my fault i can't really fault them as this is a part that will probably never fail under normal use.

Well i call today and the cap and plate was gonna be $14, i was about to place the order when my wife found the parts under the edge of the entertainment center next to the toy chest in my sons room, i guess my older eyes missed it the other day. so i am good to go and already have the g2c up and running again. $14 ain't bad but if i can save that, all the better on my tight budget, thats almost 2 boxes of range ammo. if i had the money to spare i would go ahead and order but those parts are probably never going to fail as they do nothing but hold the striker. i did tell taurus about my good luck and thanked them for the help in trying to get my gun back up and going. thanks everyone

Next time:
1. Pick a better place to work where parts may not escape in the carpet or a dark corner.
2. Disassemble/reassemble in a large clear plastic bag or, better yet, a box with arm holes to keep the flying parts close at hand and a clear window for visibility. Easily made from 1/4" plywood and a piece of Lexan.
3. Banish junior to another room until you're done.

It's cheaper and less frustrating that way.

BBBBill gives good advice. Don't ask me how I know. I am a bit cheaper though and simply use a cardboard box with a scrap piece of polycarbonate clear panel. Got tired of tracking down springs and such.
