Hey guys, just picked up a taurus SS model 94 in 22lr for my wife and I have a couple of questions:

The trigger pull is really heavy; but i don't know if that is just a function of revolvers or not... This is the first DA i've ever shot. If you manually cock the hammer then the pull is a dream, only about a half a pound or so. If you do the DA pull then its stiff enough that I don't think my wife could pull it (100lb little thing). Should I take it back or what? I really don't have any idea. If you handed me an auto or a rifle and asked me to pull the trigger, I could tell you immediately if it was abnormal or not.. I'm outa my league with revolvers.

Update:

After taking the revolver apart it appears that to lighten the pull I would just have to snip a turn or two off of the hammer spring (made that term up).

That and it shoots really low... Like 3-4" @ 5 yards.. But that is with using a traditional tangent sight picture, somone said something about stacking the sight with a taurus in a previous thread. It shoots AWESOME though, and thats with my shaky hands. One ragged hole at 5 yards, 4" low, SA.

The mainspring in smaller .22 rimfire revolvers are sometimes heavier then those in similar center-fire counterparts because the rimfire cartridge has a thicker case then the battery cup in a center-fire primer. You can “clip the spring†but I wouldn’t unless you have a replacement. You can lighten the double-action pull by reducing the trigger spring, but this may make the single-action pull much too light. Use the gun for awhile and see if it doesn’t smooth itself out.

Thanks Fuff; I'm going to call Taurus on monday to see what avenues I have before I go clipping springs.

I don't mind if it light strikes from time to time as a result of a lighter DA pull as this is not going to be a combat weapon of any sort; but I naturally don't want to make it so light that the SA gets dangerously light.

Hey ShaiVong. I own one just like yours and I'm pretty happy with it myself. Nice little plinker. I suspect when you call Taurus they will tell you not to touch the springs. If you go to Wolff GunSprings "small frame Taurus revolver" section you'll find that their springs specifically say "Not recommended for 94/941." But before I'd start clipping springs I'd order a set of these and try them out. You could always switch it back.
