Probably been discussed before but it was before me. Anyone have experience with the Taurus OSS in .45? Purportedly developed to compete for the new military handgun. Seems like it should be a terrific buy for the price point. I have read some of the expert reviews but they are always rather short term and almost always positive to a fault. I would appreciate any real experience y'all can offer. Thank You

I've had one since Nov. 2010 and have approx. 3500 rounds through it. No issues at all. Very comfortable to shoot and accurate. It has fed and cycled with all my reloads. I shoot very little factory fodder but what I have shot worked too.
I really like mine.

I've actually heard it's a pretty decent pistol. I looked at them and they had good ergonomics but I just couldn't talk myself into buying one.

Taurus reputation.

Relax, guys, it's a very good pistol.

Taurus has a growing rep for good guns at fair prices. They have many very happy owners and the OSS is really beloved. I own a Taurus 24/7 PRO DS with a 4in. barrel and it's my best gun. The OSS is regarded as one of Taurus best offerings. See if you can find one to try. I believe you will like it.

I have the same, I have ran about 3 or 4,000 reloads "jacketed & hardcast" through it with no malfuntions whatsoever and very accurate. I like this one so much I bought the PT840 this weekend. According to their Website its designed from the OSS like the 24/7 Pro. At any rate they have fine quality and more features than other guns for a great price and great warranty whats not to like. The 800 series has the hammer along with the "strkie two capability" which I am liking.

I own an 840, and let me tell you, it's a fun little pistol. I've only run about 250 rounds through mine so far, had some issues with the firing pin channel getting clogged, but after including a thorough firing pin cleaning in my post-shooting cleanup, she's yet to fail me. It may have just been packing grease sucking in god knows what, but it hasn't reared its ugly head anymore, and now I trust it with my life. The 24/7 and the 800 series seems to share many design cues from Glock, namely the takedown for the slide, and the barrel in mine looks like a better supported version of the glock .40 barrel, which is a relieving sight to see after reading up on .40 kBs when I was shopping for my first pistol. I had a chance to get a PT845 from my local gunshop, but I had to pass up on it for financial reasons.

I really like mine, but haven't used it enough to give you any "experience." FWIW, that's about my fourth 24/7 variant. Bud's had them for really cheap recently ($345 shipped as I recall). One downside is finding good holsters to fit.
