just took my new one out sat am up to 225 rounds no malfunctions at all and put 25 147 fiocchi hp in a 4" bull at 15yards:)

davhina, are you looking at the newer Millenium Pro model specifically or the older generation Millennium?

There is a significant difference in the feel of the trigger in the older models versus the new PRO model. If you're undecided, please consider the Pro model over the standard PT111 Millennium model as they have a far superior trigger pull-through.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I bought one for my son used so I don't know how many rounds were put through it before we had it. We have shot over 2000 rounds in 6 months and NOT 1 PROBLEM. It's not picky on what ammo it will shoot either. Remington FMJ UMC and Express JHP, Winchester USA ammo, Sellier & Bellot stuff and Federal Hydra-Shok all shoot perfectly out of the PT-111 Pro.

I LOVE just about everything about my PT-111. The only thing that gets me is the finger-pinching that occurs after every shot.

With the extended finger-rest magazines, there is a small gap between the grip and the magazine base. After every shot, when the slides comes forward to strip the next round, it pulls the mag flush with the grip, pinching my finger.

I mentioned this in the other thread, and someone was kind enough to put up a picture. Though, they mentioned that they had no such issues.

Other than that, I've only had one fail to fire that I credit to the ammo (older WWB).

I actually prefer the Heinie sights to the three dot on my PT-92, and love the size and feel of the PT-111 in my hand. I also dig the trigger of the new SA/DA-- feels much better than my PT-92 DA/SA.

I haven't shot too many similar pistols for comparison. The closest I can think of is the Sig P232, which I really didn't like-- felt too light, and had a "snappy" recoil.

The only other one I've shot and would compare is the Glock 23 in .40cal. The recoil definitely felt smoother on the PT-111, which I'd credit to 9mm vs .40. The trigger felt much lighter on the Glock, though I hated the plastic trigger safety. The Glock did feel great in my hand, but about the same as the Taurus. And, I definitely prefer the looks of the Taurus.

Disclaimer: I know it's sacrilege to compare Glocks and Tauri (and Sigs), but I haven't shot that many pistols, which I'll gladly remedy if you all would send me your Glocks and Sigs that you don't want. :p

My PT145 and my wife's PT111 have both been exemplary. Great gun, great price. You just can't lose with these pistols. I think their worthy of CCW right out of the box. Would not recommend CCW duty without 500 hiccup free rounds, but you get the idea.

I gage all other pistols against my PT145 because it just works. I've seen guns that run 3x the money have issues while this thing just chugs away.

I bought a PT-111 new in 02. Not very accurate. Trigger pull was rough and it kept breaking takedown pins. I changed the springs every 500 rounds, but after 3 takedown pins breaking in just over a year, I got rid of it and bought a Kahr E-9.

Great pistol. Accurate for its size and extremely reliable. No issues with it. With that said, I have mine (2nd gen DAO version) up for trade as I shoot my G19 better. YMMV.

Have had nothing but sterling service with my PT111 Mil/pro. Use standard pressure 115 gr. or 124gr. rounds with it. Winchester, Silver Bear, Federal, and CCI Blazer all go through without a hitch.JHPs feed through the Mil/pro much better than the regular older PT111. Some say that their older PT111s have no trouble feeding JHPs nad do not know what the fuss is about. Since I had an older model that had some problems with JHPs and the new Mil/pros's feed ramp was more "generous with the feed angle and amount of metal for the ramp and so the switch was made. The older models may feed JHPs just fine for their owners. Every example of pistol is unique and has it's own characteristics. Can't fault a pistol that does what it's owners want it to do. Might see you guys over at www.Taurusarmed.net.

I have a PT111Ti. Titanium slide. I hate the trigger. Its not a fun gun to shoot as the recoil in such a light gun isn't unbearable but it is somewhat unpleasant. Its not terribly accurate, but its only got a 3" barrel and non-adjustable sights, so that's understandable. I've shot close to 500 rounds of different types of FMJ and JHP through it with very few failures. Few enough that I don't worry about it.

It is an excellent gun to serve the purpose for which it was purchased. It is small, light, I can carry it in a pants pocket if necesary, reliable, not prone to ADs, thinner than a Glock, I can put 10/10 into an 8x10 sheet of paper at 10 yards, so I guess that's OK accuracy for a CC/PD gun.

Its by no means the pistol I take to the range for a day of fun, but I practice enough with it to feel confident when I carry it.

If I could change one thing about it, it would be the DA trigger.

I have the older non=pro version..I've had zero problems.Shoots JHP ,w/ no problems..although I mostly shoot Winclean through it.The size is great and once I got used to the trigger it was ok(I shoot revolvers alot anyway,so the long pull didn't bother me)I've had good expierences w/ all Taurus's Ive owned.
PT99
PT111
PT945
Rossi 461
And a 5 shot that I can't remember the mod.
Taurus's seem to digest any ammo..I swear the 99 would shoot rocks out of it, if I wanted it to.
A buddy has a PT145 and says it's more reliable than his big $ Kimber..go figure

Comparing the PT-111 Millenium Pro to the PT-111 Millenium....

Is like comparing a '68 Camaro to an '88 camaro. They just aint the same thing.

The Pro is a MUCH better weapon.

I don't think Taurs did themselves any favors by recycling the name.

Now, you even have to distinguish between the old Pro (DAO) an the new Pro (SA w/ DA 2nd strike).

disassembly

Well i bought the pt-111 pro. i have no trouble taking apart my .45xd but can not for the life of me get this one apart:banghead:
I even broke down and read the instructions:what:
Can some please help, because i can't figure it out. Would really like to take it to the range, but can't fire it if i can't clean it.
Thank you in advance

Once you know the trick, it's easy. Make absolutely sure the weapon is unloaded and empty". Lock the slide back. Turn the takedown pin to the down position. Release the slide slightly forward then lock it back. The pin will pop out. Pull out the pin. Push the slide forward until it stops. Pull the trigger, and the slide will come off the rest of the way. When you re-assemble, make sure the barrel is pointing down. This way everything will line up. push the pin in the normal position (3 o'clck), with the slide locked back.
Hope this helps. It was a real bugger figuring out how to remove that pin, let me tell you.

Davhina, sent you a PM.

Jkwas.... when you give instructions on disassembling a PT-XXX PLEASE always start with the standard "make absolutely sure the weapon is unloaded and empty". Yeah should be common sense but the Taurus (and the XD) both require pulling the trigger to disassemble so I figure it's a good idea to repeat that safety instruction ad nausium.

Oh and using the looped end of a paper clip (or a safety pin) to "hook" the slide lock pin after you've turned it makes it way easier to get that pin out.

I purchased the Taurus PT111 since it was the only pistol which my wife could open the slide easilly.
I sold it since it pinches the trigger fingewr with every shot and we could not get any real range practise with it.
