Although I hesitate to post anything positive about Taurus for fear the Taurus haters may threaten to leave the country and join Alec Baldwin, I thought someone may find this information usefull or at least amusing.

Picked up a 709 about five weeks ago. Put approx. 300 rounds thru it with 4 failures to eject – nice groups- shooting low and left (from a stand) with sites maxed. Friday two weeks ago I called Taurus CS and told them what was happening. They asked if I’d like to send it in – I took them up on it and they picked it up via Fed-X on Monday before noon. Wednesday afternoon it showed up on the website as rec’d. Same Thursday, same on Friday. Monday afternoon when I checked the website it stated it was repaired and shipped. A couple of hours later I received an email with tracking information stating it would be delivered Tuesday morning before 10:00. As so it was. 8 Days door to door.
I can’t complain about that!
Ran 250 trouble free rounds of Corbon DXP, Speer Gold Dot +p, S&B, Magtech, Fiocchi thru it last Thursday, all 124gr. except the DXP. Shot to point of aim. It appears they replaced the extractor and moved the rear sight block to the right a bit. Mine was an older serial number and may have had the original – marginal extractor. Another 300 or 400 perfect rounds and I will right this off as a great experience.
The trigger has a lot of slack but it breaks clean at the rear and only requires about a ¼ inch of forward motion to reset, making follow up shots very fast and more accurate. Trigger could be slightly lighter but it is easy to master and may break in a bit yet. Fits my hand well, all components are easily reached. I have to say I am very happy with it and Taurus CS so far.
The frame is solid – more rigid than the CW9 I had and I like the metal rails inside better than the polymer Kahr.- always had small polymer shavings when I cleaned it. Loads easily from a sling shot – something else the Kahr rarely did. Locks back consistently after the last round and the slide release is perfectly placed for me as is the safety. The “strike two” capability is a nice feature in my opinion. Overall a well thought out weapon, easy to carry and conceal and comfortable to shoot. I have found the same to be true of my TCP 738 (700 rounds down the pipe). Put another 100 rounds through it this week – same consistent operation. May be time for a 6” Model 66 or 608 wheel gun now?

You now know why I like my PT709.

The double recoil spring helps soak up some of the recoil.

I like my PT111 Mil/Pro, but the 709 is a might slimmer and less thick to have to hide.

For revolver use the 608 or 66 can get the job done .

Really cool, glad to hear your CS experience was so ideal. I was pumped when LWD got a 40-9 barrel and fixed it and got it back to me in the same business week, but that wasn't even a full pistol.

Even four failures in the first few hundred rounds isn't all that bad, but if they had a fix for a borderline good part they could easily put in place, no reason not to.

My PT709 worked great too....for about 600-700 rounds
Not Taurus hating just the truth.
I bought it for the price and ease of carry.....Initially I put 300 rounds though it and all was good I had no issues and it became my EDC. Over the course of the next few months, I'd shoot the 709 every two weeks or so then clean and return to carry duty. One day(at ~600-700 round mark) the gun developed FTEs and light strikes(very confidence inspiring....) on every mag. I sent it back to Taurus, on return it seemed to work fine....Until the second trip back to the range where it started light striking every few rounds and would not light them off on subsequent trigger pulls.(I was using new fresh factory ammo, PMC and Winchester etc that I had always run in the pistol since new). This was it for me....I sent it back for repair then sold it.

Sorry to hear you had trouble - I'm approaching that mark and will keep an eye on it

My PT-111 has been to the factory for a 12-day round trip
to fix light strikes. 300 rounds later it's as good as a gun can be. But I'll be watching.
