I picked up a Taurus Titanium 44 mag the other day and man it felt just great holding it..the grips are really nice...best factory grips I've ever seen. The 4'' barrel balances the revolver perfectly but when I shot it with the 44 magnum bullets it almost jumped out of my hand! So I picked up some Hornady 44 Special XTP bullets and they shot just fine. So now I will load it with the CCI shotshells for snakes in the summer and the Hornady 44 Special XTP for the two-legged snakes. Life is good...

Almostfree...You are correct...I've been looking at to many revolvers tonite!:D

:what:Kitt you think that gun jumps, I saw a guy shoot a 44 mag. over and under derringer with Hornady xtp's , the front sight nearly hit him in the forehead and he had a bruise for over a week. I should have not dared him I guess!

Why would you ever want to mess with such a nice looking firearm?
anybody accepting a dare like that pretty much gets what he deserves! most people are educated beyond the stupid stage, some stay there their entire life.

So you bought a .44 magnum to shoot .44 specials?

Ever looked for a good .44 special revolver in your local gun store?

The only thing I've been able to find locally is the Charter Bull Dog.

Remember, you can shoot specials through a pistol made to shoot magnums, but it's a bad idea to go the other way, and high quality .44 special pistols are like hen's teeth where I live.

Nice pistol, Kitt.

I keep two revolvers in my shop...#1 is a Taurus Raging Bull 44 magnum with the ported 6 1/2'' barrel loaded with Hornady 44 Mag 240 gr. JHP/XTP #2 is the Taurus Titanium loaded with CCI shotshells or Hornady's 44 SPCL 180 gr. JHP/XTP. The all steel Raging Bull handles the 44 magnums with very little recoil "BUT" the Titanium 44 is a joy to carry around. I live on the water and my son shot a 4' long cotton mouth in the backyard that was as big around as my arm! You never know what you might run into...I really like the 44 Special and picked up a S&W model 624 last week that is Super nice. IM000545.gif

Glad to see you joined the Taurus .44 mag ultralite club :)

I got mine last month and love it; it's become my favorite range gun. .44 spls are fun to shoot, but magnum loads are where it's at!

Mine doesn't try to jump out of my hands though... I keep it held firm with elbow locked. I bet a bent elbow would ask for trouble though.

What kind of speedloader is that?

dirt_j00 The speedloader is a #29 by HKS... I think it fits the S&W,Ruger and Taurus six shot 44 mag cylinders. I drilled a hole in the aluminum handle of one and attached one of my Taurus "keys" on it so I have the speedloader and key in one place.

What does it weigh and what is MSRP (or what did you pay if you don't mind)?

I'd look myself, but Taurus has one of the most agonizingly unnavigable websites of all time. :barf:

I might consider one of these, as I'd like a lightweight .44 Mag, and have only made a vow to never buy lock-equipped guns from one certain company. ;)

I have one of their Tracker models in SS -.44 Mag that I mainly use for .44 Specials. It is a smaller frame (about the same as an L frame S&W) and weight is 34oz vs the 28.3 oz Titanium large frame model.

Both are nice guns, I just like the smaller frame, even though I give up one round capacity.

I see no need to shoot .44 mag, unless for hunting ,or large animal protection. The .44 Spl is a great round and pleasant to shoot from these guns. Yet, you always have the ability to shoot the magnum rounds with them.

Kind of Blued... Taurus has stopped making the Titanium revolvers for some time now but I see one on the auction sites now and again. There was one at GunBroker for $490 but I think it sold and GunsAmerica has one at $599. I like mine so much I bought a brand new and keep it in the safe for a spare. The lock on the Taurus hammer works great ...if you want to use it or not thats up to you...BUT the lock built into the revolver like the S&W lock is nothing I want to own.

well it is a nice looking handgun. its the only lightweight handgun that you could use a full house load in.

the only reason not to use the high end 300 plus gran buffalo bore loads in it is that its soo light the bullets tend to jump their crimps from what ive read on taurusarmed. and that much recoild normally knocks it into peoples foreheads. wich reduces worry of crimp jumping as most wont shoot it after that happens.

I recently picked up a Taurus Tracker, .44 mag, ported 4" barrel. Love it! The most accurate handgun I own and it feels perfect in my hands. I have special ordered a holster from http://www.simplyrugged.com/ and intend for it to replace my Glock 36 for CCW, at least in the cooler months. May be a little tough on my 5' 9" 155 lb. frame... Will see how it goes.

It does have some recoil ;), but I will download the 210 grain Gold Dots SD rounds to a PF of ~ 230 or so (.45 auto +P = 213).

Cool piece!
