I'm looking at getting the TC Triumph and have read the great reviews on the Cabela's website. A gun salesman at a large chain was telling me that the Triumph is a terrible firearm:scrutiny:

I'd like to hear any and all comments from people that own it or have shot it. Good and bad, let's hear it all.:)

Terrible because....???

...he doesn't sell them, perhaps?

No salesman is ever to be trusted to tell the truth. If the guy doesn't specify why he has that opinion, and provide facts to document his statement, it's worth nothing.

BTW, the same goes for the reviews on the web site. Any bad ones? No? Hmmm. Must be the perfect gun. If so, why doesn't it cost more?

Long story short.....I got a new muzzleloader as a x-mas gift from my father, turns out to be a poor rifle. He went to return the rifle and asked about the TC Triumph as a replacement. Salesman tells him not to get the Triumph because it's bad and many people are having a lot of trouble with them. Salesman wants me to come talk to him to point out all the problems associated with it.

Salesman wants to sell an Omega instead at a price close to $700 because it's a much better rifle.

Before I go and listen to the guy about why it's a bad rifle I wanted to hear real world experience/opinions on the Triumph.

Well, for 75% more money it had better be a better rifle.

I have no experience with a Triumph. It's a new product so there will be little real life data - about all you'll get are reviews, which are frankly unreliable. However, for what it's worth Thompson Center has an excellent reputation for standing behind their products, so if the Triumph turns out to be a stinker, they will probably work with you to set it right. The other thing their reputation does is make it less likely that there will be a problem. For what it's worth.

I've read enought of Mykeal to know that he speaks with wisdom. While your waiting for us to come around why don't you go and listen to this sales guy but first make the commitment to yourself not to buy until you relate what he has to say to the forum. He has a dog in this fight we don't.

Yeah, I've had a hard time finding any real information because it's so new. I'm not in any hurry to get a different BP, long time before hunting season rolls around.

I have a hard time believing that a TC product would be called junk, I know guys with the Pro-Hunter, Encore and Omega rifles that love them. I just wish the rifle was purchased at my regular small family gunshop instead of the big name store.....I hate going there.:banghead:

2 cents.

Hey there:
I shoot a T/C Encore and to the best of my knowledge T/C does not make a bad gun. Maybe you should look for a different gun dealer. I have had this happen to me also . I'm 51 years old and been dealing in and with guns most of my life. You go into a gun store and some kid or older gentleman tells me how it is . Some times ya really want to lay it on them , but ya dont , just cause your a nice guy. It sounds to me as though maybe that dealer is not all that up on his facts. The other gun is a good one also , BUT. As others here have said All T/C guns are good ones. They will stand behind it for life.
No matter what. Buy what you want. And while your at it have fun with it too. Let us all know how she shoots.:)

There's been mostly positive feedback posted about it.

But here's someone who bought one with a rough bore which was replaced by the store in 3 days:

Here's some positive feedback on performance:

Here's positive feedback on the Weathershield finish:

All of the great user reviews on the Cabela's website seem to be authentic and from customers who actually bought and used it and then rated it highly. :)

I'm sure TC will stand behind their product, you don't get such a loyal following otherwise. I'll be checking the links and going to different gunshops and asking them how people have liked the Triumph.

Thanks everybody

I don't have a Triumph, but I have a .50 CAL TC hawken and .50 CAL Omega. I had a .50 CAL. black diamond before the Omega. The Black Diamond would out shoot some centerfire rifles and was impressive. Only reason I sold it was because I liked the features of the Omega. The man that I sold the Black Diamond to constantly brags on how accurate it is. The Omega has served me well and shoots good enough for me. All three of those rifles have been a number one. When the Triumph came out I thought that T/C has done it again but just a little better. If the Triumph is anything like T/C's other guns then I would say that its a keeper. As you will find out some of salesman don't have a clue about what they are selling or sometimes want to push another product.

Yeah, I'll be giving the TC a quick once over, especially the barrel's rifleing. I'm not gonna let one salesman diswade me from my first TC.:D

t/c triumph

i bought this at a large nat'l chain store, on sale for $275, marked down from 400. didn't know if it'd be worth anything, but the hand removable speed breech was really alluring. i've put 30 shots through it, and it's excellent. first shot out of the box was on paper at 100 yds. fine tuned it @ 100 yds, and it shoots a 1" group (3 shots) from a rest (fencepost). i'm new to hunting, this is my 2nd year, but have been shooting for 30 years. in my limited experience, i think the triumph's a winner. i got a six pointer at ~100 yds freehand this year with open sights. i got the nikon bdc 250 scope for it after the season, and am waiting for the rings to mount it. i'll drop a line how it shoots at longer distances.

It's good to hear that you are liking the new TC Triumph, bet your talking about Wally World, saw them on sale for that price.

This thread is about 1 year old:) I did get the Triumph and it's a excellent shooter. Sad to say but I didn't get out this year to use it and haven't shot it since I bought it:banghead:

It's the weathershield model and I mounted the Nikon BDC muzzleloader scope on it, the eye relief is excellent. I'm using Triple 7 pellets and Hornady 250gr bullets, great shooting combo.
