I bought a Yugo SKS the other day and without even shooting it I ordered one of these for it

As well as one of the H type recoil buffers.

Anyway I went out in the rain today and shot the rifle. WOW these sights are nice. With various kinds of ammo I could burn clay piegons at 100 yds with ease. I've shot lot's of SKS'es in the past but none of them were nearly as fun to shoot as this one with these sights.
Heck I even managed to shoot a 3" 10 shot group at 50 yds even though the front sight post covered the entire target. I'll cure that with a file.
When my wife get's back with the camera tomorrow I'll post some pics of the rifle.

Could you give us some details on these .... price, source, modifications required for installation, etc.
Thanks

I have those sights on my SKS. They helped a lot. Extremely tight groups after installing the sight. They're easily adjustable too.

The issue I have is sometimes the rear apeture gets too blurry when I'm shooting with glasses.

Yes - they are fantastic. They make my Norinco very accurate. One downside - the length of pull is so short on Norincos that I scratch my glasses against the Tech-sight getting a good cheek weld.

What if any interference do you get from the original rear sight in your line of sight???

Thanks.

+1 on getting Tech Sights. My original sights put the point of aim almost two feet to the left of impact with no more adjustment left. With the Tech Sights, I could get it back on center though I still had to move the front sight over a little. Much easier to aim with as well.

The only PITA on removal is you need a coin or screw driver to loosen the screw holding it on and you then have a few extra pieces to keep track of while cleaning. The only real issue I had on initial installation is that I had to file some of the wood back to make room as the wood was high up on the receiver and didn't allow room for the screw. No regrets for me at all.

Interesting....is this usable with a front Firesight? How much PITA factor does it add to receiver cover removal?

It would work with the firesight, but in my opinion the firesight is way too coarse for precision shooting. Plus if you do go the firesight route you would need to order the more expensive elevation adjustable sight, as you would lose the ability to adjust the front sight with the firesight.

As for reciever cover removal. I've just about decided that during the corse of normal usage and cleaning that removing the reciever cover on an SKS is unneccacary, after all that's in there is a spring to wipe off.

Agreed the firesight is kinda coarse, but then again so is the rest of the rifle :D

Personally I like to give the bolt a good cleaning after every shooting session, particularly to ensure the firing pin channel is clean. Probably unnecessary but it makes me feel better.

The sight doesn't sound too annoying to remove, and as long as it holds point of aim through a removal/reinstallation, looks to be worth the investment. Thanks for the info.

The issue I have is sometimes the rear apeture gets too blurry when I'm shooting with glasses.

The human eye can focus on only one focal plane at a time.

The proper sight picture when shooting with iron sights is to have the front sight in focus, while both the target and rear sight (whether it's open or a peep) out of focus.
