Just got a Sears Ted Williams model 340.530430-.22 .22 rifle , and it shoots but won’t eject. The ejector itself works but the spent case only comes out a small amount and sticks (tried it with unfired rounds and they pop right out...for the most part). Gave the barrel a good scrubbing but it didn’t help much, any ideas?

I had to hit the books for this one -- the rifle is an Ithaca Model 49 single shot by another name, which is covered in Frank deHaas Single Shot Rifles and Actions. Basically it is a Peabody/Martini-type action styled to look like a lever action repeater.

The action diagram in deHaas shows that the extractor is spring loaded to eject cases, so the first thing to determine is whether it is popping out out smartly when the breech is fully dropped. If not, there could be gunk in the extractor recess, or a weak or broken extractor/ejector spring.

The next likely culprit would be grit or roughness in the chamber, but it sounds like you've checked on that. A steady diet of .22 Shorts often leaves enough chamber residue to cause longer cases to balk.

BTW, if .22 LR only partially ejects, maybe .22 Short cases would be more likely to zip out freely -- worth trying?

Here's a nice write up on this rifle: https://gunsmagazine.com/surplus-classic-and-tactical-firearms/greatest-little-gun/

Unfortunately extractors were the weak point on the little Ithaca’s. The edge that engages the rim is very thin and prone to damage. Replacement extractors are available from Numrich most of the time and will help the problem.
That being said, the chamber might benefit from a good scrubbing which is difficult on this model. It takes a brush with a 90 degree bend to reach into the chamber.
