Teddy Roosevelt's Hawken

Thanks for posting that fascinating video. It would be interesting to see what those guns bring at auction. What pieces of History they are; complete with documented provenance.

I am currently working my way thru "African Game Trails". I have to take a break and read something else every once in awhile It's as it become repetitive. He was on a museum collection trip and shot a huge number of animals. He was known to have rather poor eyesight and does not try to hide that in his tale. He doesn''t specifically mention it but does include all his missed shots and numerous ones to bring his quarry down. Sometimes he couldn't see the animal his tracker was pointing out to him. It is quite a story of a far different time than today. Every hunter should read it to understand how our world has changed in only a little over 100 years.
