Teen Football Stars Indicted For Murder Of Teammate
A grand jury indicted two teens Wednesday who are charged in the murder of a teammate, reported NewsChannel5.
Raymond Williams and Jon Huddleston, members of the Benedictine High School football team, were indicted for murder, aggravated robbery and robbery in the shooting death of Lorenzo Hunter, 16.
According to police, the shooting took place when Williams, "Ohio's Mr. Football," Huddleston and Hunter were trying to rob Rodney Roberts with a toy gun.
Roberts allegedly pulled out a real gun and shot and killed Hunter. The sophomore wide receiver and safety died of gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and hip.
The grand jury decided Roberts will not face a murder charge, but is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Prosecutor Bill Mason says the Williams and Huddleston face murder charges because the law holds them responsible.
"Once you start this, you are responsible for all things that happened," said Mason. "Someone was killed, it doesn't matter if they weren't the shooter."
Mason says there is evidence that suggests the boys may have tried to rob someone earlier that night.
The teens will be arraigned in the next week.
If convicted, they could face 15 years to life behind bars.
