to do!
I wuz doing right good on the rifle stage of a SASS shoot locally with my 26" Winchester Model 92 in .32 WCF (32-20) . It holds plenty of rounds for the stage but there wuz a mandatory reload of 2 shots to stop the clock. I shoot a Cimmaron SAA 32-20 from a right hand Mexican loop holster and the belt has 18 rounds of loops for it which I keep loaded for the stage reloads. On my left front near the buckle is an old .38 Uberti Maverick derringer for side matches and can be used for a "hold out" if the primary pistol comes up short. I had 2 .38 spl. cowboy loads in the loops next to the Derringer! :scrutiny:
Becuz of the odd reload of the model 92 in a hurried stage I pulled a .38 spl. and it stuffed into the Winchester 92 readily enough :banghead:
Well after 2 hours of fiddling at home after EVERYBODY tried to clear the round on the cartridge lifter at the shoot with out any luck I had it out with a complete action stripped out of the reciever.:fire:
Guess I am gonna have to be real careful with those odd .38 rounds around my 32-20 set up! The rim is a few thousandths larger than the .32-20 but passes the loading gate OK GOING IN and they go part way up the tube. Only by being unable to load the 2nd .32-20 wuz I aware there wuz something wrong! The lifter lifts them half way but the slot the rim of the 32-20 slids up in the Model 92 and the fatness of the case traps it on the lifter!:banghead:

Sorry to hear of your problems, but on the bright side, look at how much you have learned. And chances are, it will never happen again.
Have fun.

I have not found a Sherrif's or Bird head Uberti 32-20 yet ! The Derringer is actually pretty Accurate now I "regulated" the sights and at 20 oz. does not recoil much with light loads, but I see your point!
