What can you tell me about it? You know the one that his spotter had at the beginning?

A picture would be nice if you've got one.

not sure but I've been waiting for that two hours of my life back since 2001>>

:D
I feel the same way about the movie "Titanic"

LOL, I'm sure you didn't like the part where the Marine Sniper pulls out his Sig Sauer.

i watched that on amc last night.

my gf got mad at me cuz i kept bitching about the weapons in it.

What was that pistol they used in Titanic?

Nickel Colt M1911,

Highly improbable he would have actually had it the civie version came out a few months before the incident and there was no nickel at that point, but never underestimate rich people with a penchant for nice things.

I am also a HUGE Titanic buff trust me when I say the movie was a waste of a true event.

why? the us Military issues Sigs. the navy seals use the 226. the228 is designated M11. its been issued to other branches for special operations etc

all be it the marines favor the 1911. as evident in thier own Spec ops pistol, the MEU SOC

Anyone remember that part where they were stalking the Hacienda in day light? Then those body guards or whatever pour out of those vehicles and one had a humongous night vision looking, camera-ish scope on his MP5?

LOLOLOLOLOL:D :D :D

I about lost it at the scene where the round's primer failed to ignite because he had supposedly "adjusted" the firing pin. Like he supposedly went around and "adjusted" the firing pins on all of his toys before he went off on what he should have smelled to be a set-up in the first place.

Oh, well, it's a movie.

Yep, they sure do, and more than just the SpecOps folks get them. I know for fact that Naval Aviators are issued Sigs, as a friend of mine was issued one.

They killed the idea from the book. The book explained so much more of why he did that to the firing pin. Plus the books opening scene took place in Vietnam. The book was good, the movie sucked.

I believe in Shooter he supposedly swapped firing pins on all his guns. It was a good idea I guess, but not sure if that is the way to do it. I don't think I could easily swap the firing pins on my M1A and AR15. :)

It is a nice way to secure your firearms in addition to a safe. Disable the firing mechanism. Some are easy to remove the firing pins from, or simply remove the bolt.

In my mind's eye I sort of grin demonically when I remove a firing pin before storage, thinking as I do of some fat, dimwitted, gang banger assuming the "Glock Fohtay" firing position in a threatening gesture, pulling the trigger on MY STOLEN FIREARM and getting ....

nothing but a whole buttload of return fire!

Upon discovering his ventillated corpse, the gendarmerie eventually return my pistol to me.

(I have a rich fantasy world).

What was supposedly done to the .50 BMG rifle was that the firing pin was "adjusted" so that it would ride far enough back in the bolt that it couldn't hit the primer and ignite it. I'll plead ignorance -- I've never stripped and cleaned a .50 BMG -- but I can think of an awful lot of things that present no possible way of doing that.

Removing firing pins? Yes. That would work. But that isn't what the character supposedly did in the movie. If pins were gnerally threaded in and then held in place, I could see the adjustment possibilities.

Like they say, "Hey, it's a movie!"

Yes we are conflating two movies. I about fell out of my chair watching Shooter when he pulls a loaded cartridge out of his pocket after coming out of lockup. Just where did he hide that cartridge while being searched? And how was he able to sit down while hiding it?

Sorry I can't remember the details of the AR that Becketts first spotter used.

um.. it actually was a chy-tac .408 not a .50 and if you pay attention you see the other guy pass the round to him when they shake hands.

but I know of many weapons that you can easily replace the firing pin with a shorter one, M2, M16/AR-15, 1911, all i can think of off the top of my head.

He was handed the round by the FBI agent. As far as the firing pin, I was under the impression that he had removed the firing pins before leaving. I'm not sure how he did these things. I know that you can remove the pin on an M-16 and still assemble the rifle minus the pin. I'm guessing the same is possible on most firearms.

I liked Shooter, wasn't fond of Sniper, and thought Titanic sucked!

99% of the pistols in the USMC inventory are M9 Berettas. Every 1911 they still have in service could probably fit into the back of an average sized pick up truck and still leave room for a cooler of beer . . .

I bet I could come up with a pick-up to try it with. :D
