There is a joke about a bar named the 13th Step. I liken the Non-Firearm Weapons group like a bunch of friends always willing to take a buddy through the 12 steps and onto the 13th.

So I visit this thread as I do many of those on THR but I find myself spending more and more time here.

Then I try to go away....That's not working well.

I have stumbled a few times over the last couple of months so I thought I would share some of my falling off the wagon bouts.

This I found at a local gun show. I had some money burning a whole in my pocket and not finding any suitable hardware I wanted I bought this more or less on a whim. I liked the look, heft and feel. It doesn't get the greatest reviews by some, but I have been EDCing for the last two months and other than the lock that is bit over done and the aggressive thumb studs that tend to bother while hand diving to the depths of my pocket I like it. It has worked well opening the boxes from Amazon that seem to never end.

From the Manufacturer
M16-01T made by Columbia River Knife and Tool is Titanium frame.. this 4-Inch AUS 8 stainless steel blade, the frame CNC machined from 6AL4V titanium. The Titanium frame is minimally ceramic bead blast finished.

At $42 I thought it a good buy.

These other two have been discussed a great deal recently. The LMF came from the Blade Show and the Izula-II (with kit) from Knifeworks.

That makes two of us, bud.

Remember the days when we spent more time in The 642 Club?
I was there, The 336 Club and the Marlin 39 Club far more than here.

Now, it's all turned around: I'm here more than there.
(Part of that is because my rifles and handguns
are still in storage on the west coast.
Long, long, sad, sad story. :(
I'll see them again some day.)

But the absence of those has made me focus more on my NFW,
including my blades (which I brought with me),
and has turned me into a bladeaholic
(in keeping with the theme of this thread).

"Hello. My name is Nem, and I'm a bladeaholic."

"Hi, Nem."
_______

Nice looking blades.

We're gonna need a pic of that LMF out of the sheath, though,
as proof that you really own it. Could be just a prop. :scrutiny:

As you probably can guess, I'm most fond of the Izula.
You're the one who helped turn me into an ESEE-holic when you bought it

By the way, DA: which Maxpedition is that?

I'm looking at a Sitka for EDC.
All that molle offers such great real estate for blades.

It's a Jumbo Versapak. It is very comfortable and has the section for carry configuration.

I have the Sitka and it has more pockets than a mutant kangaroo. Nice day pack. It has the back to front slide capability (GearSlinger). See the Maxpedition website for details. I used it on a recent trip to Sedona and day trips around Phoenix.
I have it also configured as a BOB when it's just hanging around. It's going on a trip for Wyoming in September.

In BOB/GHB (Get Home Bag) mode.

Well first off I must say, thanks to the Moderators no doubt, that this is my favorite Knife (and cudgels) forum!
Next I want to say that my day pack, make that 2 day if necessary, is a Sitka. The Back to front slide you can do with it makes it wonderful for riding in public transportation or any vehicle or seat you want to use and still be hooked up when you stand. I got mine for riding the bus in North Korea :)

Gordon, I'm lusting for a Sitka
(said as a mountaineer).
Will carry one asap.

DA, check out this review of the Izula 2.
Best review of that knife I've seen. (Well done
in terms of technical and intellectual competence.)

An Izula 2 is in my future,
sez the crystal ball.

Knife folks don't get the crystal ball, we get the Magic 8 Ball. We know there's that perfect knife in our future, we just can't see what it is so we keep getting more and more of the dang things.

DA, do you know what the volume of the Max Jumbo is?
Maxpedition lists some of their, including the Sitka, but I don't see it for that.

Smaller than the Sitka, but I can't tell by how much.
That's to be expected, though:
Jumbo is a Versipack, Sitka a gearslinger.
The latter are larger on average.

I wish they produced one between the Sitka and the Kodiak.

(Sorry, I know this is tangential to knives :uhoh:,
but at least related to their transport. )

Actually mine is the Kodiak, confusion was I have a Mad Dog Sitka (knife) . Tim Tang's Maxpediton products are the best of their kind (and his are the ORIGINAL ones BTW) by far, only specialty virtually hand made to your spec stuff can best it.

Harumph (grumble).

Sorry gents, we don't do packs and manpurses here.

Try Accessories, down the street.

Move along now.

;) You got it boss. My most humble apology. Always happens when I start using background props.

Laughs. Transmission received. Trajectory altered. ;)

(And glad there's a THR board for packs, etc; I think I'd missed it.)
____

Edit: Nope. Didn't miss it. Been there, just forgot what it was.

Even started a thread there about Maxpedition gear focusing on Sitka
a month or so ago; for any who are interested, we can continue the discussion there.
