Hi

I have just ordered a used Rossi 67M in 44 remington magnum, stainless steel.

Now looking for a revolver... To have complete 44 days at the range and make a nice pair.

Would you have any advices to choose between S&W or Ruger in 4 to 5 inch long?
Wich one grip fits well in big hands?

These ones are pretty rare here and I won't be able to try before ordering (a used gun). And shooters that I know all have Taurus, heavy long and ported, I don't like that.

Kind regards
McI

The Ruger Redhawk is a fairly big revolver, if you have large hands it might fit you well. The Super Redhawk fits my smaller hands better and is the one I own. The Smith 29 has more options when it comes to aftermarket grips than the Redhawk. Your best bet is to handle them and see what fits you if at all possible, although that’s more important for me with smaller hands since not all will work for me. Probably less of a factor for those with larger ones when it comes to the bigger revolvers.

I tend to look for a redhawk already, I will look for S&W 29 but I am pretty sure I won't find one. Thanks for this recommendation :)

To give you an idea : I shoot a pietta 1858 44 black powder and the grip is short enough in my hand to discourage me, it's something I would avoid with a 900€ cartridge gun.

The Redhawk is a big revolver, but it is terrible for large hands. The Redhawk has an exceptionally small grip neck, and those of us with large hands tend to struggle closing around it. Aftermarket grips can help, or T grips, but the Super Redhawk is the better option for someone with large hands.

Oh oh... Looking at redhawk and blackhawk pictures side by side you're right about the slim neck grip.
That's one thing I missed, I was focused on grip length and butt.

I should come here more often.

I have small hands. I like the Redhawk with the 5" bbl. I believe the balance is very good. Also like the S&W 629 Mountain Gun. Recoil may be a bit stout though.

Hi guys,

so much for my 44 RM duo, I failed to find a 44 Ruger in my price range. Maybe someday I will find one, they are quite sparce here.

I went for two nice guns instead, both feeling adequately sized in my hands.

A Colt Trooper mark III because I couldn't resist this beauty, and at last to match the 44 Rossi rifle, a Pietta 44 1860 Navy, polished white steel (yes it's a cap and ball ;)
