The best combat 9mm in your opinion

IMO, the Glock 17. I'm not saying it is a better overall gun than a CZ, Beretta, HK, etc...

But if I was in Iraq, and was in combat, that is the gun I would want. I would want the fewest parts, with light weight, and the most dependable in the harshest conditions.

But for the average gun owner, I would suggest maybe a CZ, or Beretta, but for actual combat....

Glock

I cannot stand to shoot a BHP, much less take it into battle.

Unless there is a way to keep it from biting my hand. Hurt like a SOB, the hammer kept slamming into it.

I've been accused of being overly conservative about such matters, but I think I'd want a properly set up Browning/FN/Inglis/whatever P-35. By "properly set up" I mean decent sights, a larger thumb safety, and the magazine disconnect removed.

Seems it defines the CZ 75B which also has a superior
design similiar to the renowned Sig P210 with the slide
rails inside the frame. THe CZ 75B is in use in some
countries besides the Czech Republic since 1993 - the
fall of the iron curtain opened it up to more markets. The
Israelis copied it aka the Jericho, Hungary uses the Jericho.
I found a link for NON-USA Military, general and SOF types,
as well as LEO. From my reading it seems the
SIg 226/229 has a big lead, with the Browning Hi Power
fading and the GLock 17 for cost cutting countries making
inroads but when it somes to SOF/SEAL types they tend to
up gun to .40/.45 ACP with the H&K USP leading by a
large percentage but not general issue.

The Beretta M9 is large but most general issue hand guns
are large. but not many other countries than the USA have adopted
it.

My choice: CZ 75B - the SP01 has a changed grip as well as
a BIGgger handle than most people need. Genral service means
average soldier - The countries with the most combat experience
still like to have a thumb safety like it or not.

Luger - There is no Substitute

The original 9MM, 1908 Luger. All the fancy "modern":scrutiny: guns are just full of gimmicks like "reliability". Whatever that is . :barf:. .

BHP
I bobbed the hammer on mine to get rid of the bite
High-Power just fits my hand wonderfully
A joy to shoot

So far from my own experience, the CZ-75B would be my first pick with a Hi-Power as second choice.

I'm not a big fan of Glocks, not because of the "plastic pistol" bit, but because I don't like striker-fired pistols and DAO. I'll give Glock their props for being accurate, but I have to take careful aim with one because they just don't point instinctively very well for me.

If Glock made a DA/SA with an exposed hammer instead of a striker and changed the angle on the grip a bit, I'd definitely be interested in one.

IMO the best combat pistol is the one you own which is:

1 - you are most competent with
2 - most reliable
3 - most accurate

In that order.

Brand name and configuration/platform preferences aside, that's what it really comes down to. JMO.

the best most highspeed low drag, tactical, combat, special operations, secret squirrel, swat mall ninja, did i say tactical combat 9mm handgun is

survey says.........

the glock 19 and or 17, i prefer the 19.

GLOCK 17...I've owned quite a few guns...GLOCKs always go bang and can withstand harsh conditions better than any other handgun.

It's interesting how many folks equate combat readiness with reliability in "sand."

Perfectly understandable, but as a civilian well beyond my draft eligible years, I equate combat with CCW (doesn't that stand for Concealed Combat Weapon?), and favor a Sig P239 DA/SA.

I really like my Bersa 9mm high capacity, but if I had to depend on it for my life, down in the dirt, I vote for the Glock. It will take a likin and keep on tickin! It ain't pretty, but it will work when others won't.

Like I said before: If I had to go into war type combat with a 9mm, a well tweaked M-9 with 4 or 5 seventeen round mags would do it for me. I (kinda ) go into (potential) combat as a police reservist with a Glock 17 with 2 extra mags. I doubt I'll ever need it as I do community service runs these days.
But if'n I had to go into GUNFIGHTING combat this BHP Practical , tweaked a little with a 3.5 icicle trigger and tritium sights (and Esmeralda Celtic grips) in a Comp-tac Kydex belt holster with a few extra mags full of Ranger T +p+ 127 grain ammo would do it for me, if not it's the Mad Dog 3/16" VooDoo Hound time!:

I like all-metal guns, hence I purchased a CZ 75 P-01. Well, it is almost all-metal. The guide rod is plastic, but that is easily remedied with an aftermarket stainless steel rod.

Glock 34
Designed to be carried in combat, offer good velocity and capacity.

First choice, for a 9mm would be one of my Highpowers or P-35's. Hell it was good enough for Prince Harry, it's still good enough for me.

Second choice would be one of my W. German/German SIG 228/226's.

The CZ seems to get a lot of raves, but I have never shot one. Have no knowledge of extensive combat service, to match the combat histories of the P-35, 1911A1 and the SIG 226/228/M11. I hope the new S&W M&P, with the thumb safety can cut the mustard for military combat.

Frankly today there are a slew of good quality 9mm's to choose from. Most of them have very little military combat history though.

I have used the 1911 and the S&W revolver in combat. The Highpower is the 9mm alternative to the 1911 in my opinion, and frankly there is no 9mm revolver I would trust in combat. I would take virtually any full size 3" to 6" 38/357Mag S&W revolver to combat though.

There is a reason that the premier SpecOps of the world don't use Glock. It is a good to great police or self/home defense weapon, but comes up short for first line military combat. There is are reasons our first line SpecOps folks don't use them.

I shoot my, now, small group of Glocks, but I would not use them for military combat. Obviously some folks would and they could do much worse.

Go figure.
