The Best Selling 9mm in America

I made my guess by considering the G19 was issued by many LE agencies including CIA, FBI, and Secret Service. I tend to think this made it on par if not more abundant in the civilian world than the P320, but who knows.

Go the Shooting Industry web site. They periodically publish the numbers on such issues.

When I worked for a store that gave out free popcorn and had a windmill in its logo, we sold more Taurus G3 series 9mm handguns than any other brand by far. The price point is why most people bought them and those people were looking for a home defense hand gun. There are a lot more of those types of gun owners than the type of gun owners that frequent gun forums. We will buy multiple hand guns that cost a bit more money like a Glock, S&W, SIG etc. We are the minority and don't drive the sales numbers as much as we would like to think.

I inspected a Sig P365 X Macro the other day, so a co-worker could carry it (personally purchased). I will say that was a bad machine. 17rd flush fit mag and still pretty tiny. I'd take it over the P320 8 days a week.

Thou I have other brands of handguns (Example Glock) But I dwell in the house of Smith & Wesson for the main part of my handgun inventory. Thus my EDC is a S&W (9X19mm) .

I refuse to buy a Glock for no particular reason except they’re ugly. I have a Kimber 3” compact I dearly love as well as a M&P Smith. I don’t really care who has the biggest market share. I have what I like and that’s that

I understand completely and respect your opinion. Glocks were never intended to be attractive. I will say this, my G19 always goes bang when the trigger is pressed. In fact, if I were going to select a pistol to take to a gunfight it would be my G19.

Obviously, the only answer is the 1911 ;)

Looks like the P365 was Number 1. This is not unexpected. The P320 in second place is surprising, though since the military adopted it, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. That stock grip module ... it's awful.

Purely anecdotal, but of the four women I know who became first-time gun owners in the last few years, all four chose the Sig 365. Most of these made the choice on their own. Don’t know if it’s marketing, but the micro-9 clearly has some appeal for the ladies.

Went to my local Cabelas today to get some .22 mag ammo. Ask the guy what their best selling 9mm is. He said the Taurus G3. I was not surprised.
They sell it for under $400. That customer base is not going to pay $650 for a handgun.

Logic would dictate whatever you see the most when you go to a shooting range and see what pistols are being seized when someone is arrested.

The p365 is very popular, but cheaper pistols appeal to a larger potentially customer base. Hard to beat the Taurus G pistol in price, thus I figure they are.

I have a strong feeling that I am in the minority when I say the Glock is the best looking, most business like polymer pistol out there…:D

While I don't think of a Glock as "pretty" I sort of have to agree with you. I don't think they're any "uglier" than any other polymer frame, "black" semi auto pistol on the market. If anything I think a Glock has smoother, less cluttered lines than most others.

It was surprising to me to see that the most-produced firearms are rifles. Glock is the first pistol to show up on the Wikipedia list, but models and chambering were not differentiated. I have owned 9 of the top 10 at one time or another. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-produced_firearms Keep in mind that Wikipedia is not the gold standard in things of this nature, but usually gets us in the ballpark.

Interesting list I would have thought that Taurus would rank higher considering their low cost point

Being the Taurus G3C is selling for $202 at RK …
The G3C comes with 3 mags 12+1 basically the size of a S&W plus or the new Canik MC9
And they run … & run …
I can’t imagine any 9mm pistol out selling them
I have a G3X ( 15rd) in my regular carry rotation..
Dirt cheap and dependable …
