The Best Selling 9mm in America

I have a strong feeling that I am in the minority when I say the Glock is the best looking, most business like polymer pistol out there…:D
One suspects that you may be correct (about being in the minority, that is).
Purely anecdotal, but of the four women I know who became first-time gun owners in the last few years, all four chose the Sig 365.
Strangely (or not), I was just told this by one of the guys at my LGS -- they can't keep 365s in stock, and they're selling them to women.

Keep in mind this is American manufacturing, you have to go to the Comerce report to see what is imported and add to the list of foreign manufactures here.

Once again its not separted out.. i.e. Austria is home of Glock and Steyr so their numbers are combined. Here is the top importers by country though.

Ah that makes sense. If we combine the US manufactured numbers with the imported numbers that would be almost 1.9 million. I assume steyr is not selling a huge number of pistols in the US, and the vast majority of the imported pistols are likely 9mm, so that would most likely mean that Glock is still the top dog for sales of 9mm pistols in the US.

I can see why women would like the p365. the size weight and thinness of the frame are perfect for a woman's purse or handbag and the excellent tritium night sights.I would assume that women are more concerned with personal protection after dark than in the daytime

Glocks are $600. There are plenty guns available for half that. I would guess one of those… Sccy, Taurus, Hipoint, Ruger. Factor in huge agency orders like big city PD forces or army and that might change. I do know a lot of people who own a 365 or a hellcat though.

Plenty of people will choose Select over Prime Beef.. We have already shown the exact numbers from the ATF as proof though..

There’s a few things that really surprised me about this import list. For one, the amount of Turkish shotguns compared to others. Good God, they have over a half million more than 2nd place and close to the amount of Austrian handguns. That’s impressive. Second, Croatia with 0 long guns. With Springfield releasing the bullpup rifle that should at least go to 1 lol. Third, China with no handguns. Seems a Norinco or something would have made it over here. I guess what they lack in handgun imports they make up for in clothing, electronics and tools. Lastly, with HK and Walther being premier combat tubberware I’d expect German handgun imports to be much higher than they were.

Oh, I just read Norinco group has links to the People’s Liberation Army which is a no no according to the US government.

This was from 2020.prior to the Hellions launch. It always takes the ATF, FBI, etc. years later to issue their reports. Our hard earns dollars at a snails pace.

In 1993 Bush implemented sanctions against the Chinese (not just Norinco). Only sporting shotguns and shotgun ammo were exempt.
The only Chinese pistols, AK's or centerfire ammo you find was imported before the ban.

Now and then some modern British detective series we watch on Amazon Prime mention the name “Glock”.

But I can not answer the OP’s question about the 9mm best-seller in the US.
