I've always wanted a copy of my service rifle, but since it was a select fire M16A1, no dice. Recently I found out about this place;

https://www.atomicengraving.com/product-category/gun-parts/80-percent-lowers/

and now have the start to my semiauto version of my issue M16A1. Note they do Hydra-matics as well as H&R, and can put any serial # you want on them. Mine has the actual issue serial off of my Equipment Card.

I will be picking up parts for it as I can. I'm the waiting list for the A1 upper they sell, and Brownell's will be seeing some orders from me, I'm sure. I'll be scouring the interwebz for parts also. I have an Anderson lower that I offered to a friend to go with the upper he bought, but if he doesn't get back to me soon, I might build a 16" carbine on that also.

I’m jealous - if you’re old enough to have been issued an A1, and still see well enough to use iron sights... man... neither of those describe me!

Keep us posted as you progress, hopefully you won’t have too much trouble sourcing parts - luckily we seem to have turned the corner and more and more parts are sustaining better and better availability.

I bought a lower receiver awhile back with the intention of building a tribute m16 a1( semi auto of course) 20 inch barrel and walnut furniture for a special look but seemed to loose interest for some or whatever reason.
I'll be following your build thread. Thx

That looks like a fun build!

Congratulations on your new build my friend. Keep us posted on your progress all the way through.
I like your theme.
Are you heading to Indy sometime? Lol

I had a little engraving done on one of my lowers years ago, pretty cool to get it personalized.

We will be heading home that way after going to SWMBO's cousin's wedding in NY State, Oct. 2022.

I like that; Psalm 23 on the mag well. :)

That looks like a fun build!

I'm looking forward to it! :D
