The country must be flooded with guns

The market must be awash with an awful lot of guns at this time. The reason I say this, I have a gun listed on this site and on Guns International.
It's brand new, original box and paperwork, four high capacity magazines and a brand new left hand leather iwb holster. I have it listed for a whopping $185. I'm easily $60 to $100 below what I see them selling for. And this has been listed for a week and I have not had any inquiries or a buy.
I'm not going to list the make or model on this thread. I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to get people to look for it. But it amazes me that I haven't even had an inquiry. I know this make and model were and I still believe a desired item.
I would think with an election year, the climate of our country as it pertains to violence and crime and people wanting to protect themselves that most all decent guns would fly off the shelf like the guns and ammunition did 3 years ago.

I do think there's a lot of guns out there. When the pandemic happened and all the riots the local gun store had a line out the door waiting to get to the desk. I bought my first gun during that time and I bought my first AR a few months back under threats of Virginia Democrats trying to pass a bunch of gun control bills. So, I do think there's a lot of reactionary buying and there's a lot of good reason for that right now. I don't know about others but personally I'm not too terribly interested in Taurus as a brand. I'd rather spend a bit more for a Sig or something else.

I do think we might have hit the top of the gun buying/hoarding peak and are on the down side. Hopefully that applies to reloading components as well! But it probably is a crummy time to sell a gun. Depending upon 2024 election results, we may see a flood of like-new used guns on the shelves...

Flooded with guns… I wouldn’t say flooded but certainly not lacking. The thing about the gun you have listed is that it’s a budget gun, in a popular caliber, and one of the most popular models out there. That translates into being excessively common and cheap enough that it’s not a huge monetary jump to swing straight over the used market and into the new gun market. I saw your post and was tempted to make a move on it, but I already have my own cheap pocket nine which I like just fine and don’t need to replace. Your priced fair, you just have the gun worlds version of a screwdriver. Perfectly fine tool, but why buy a used screwdriver for 2 bucks when the brand new shiny one still in the package is 3 bucks and change.

I had the same thought. It's priced fine but what goes through my head is once I tack on shipping plus an FFL fee...I could just go down to the store today, spend about $30 more, and just get shiny brand new one in a box. I saw the post and thought about it as well. No offense to OP intended, of course.

Certain guns will sell faster and easier than others. Thousands of used guns are selling on Gunbroker, ArmsList, firearm forums, used at pawn and LGS, etc. each and every day. Even more NIB guns sell.

Have you ever simply thought that their isn't much of a market or interest for whatever gun you're selling, you're trying to sell it on the wrong platform, or that others don't think it's worth what you think it's worth?

I also often hear some people mention the MSRP, that they paid X amount NIB retail, and are selling it for $50-$100 less than what they paid. What I've often witnessed is that there are rebates or online vendors who are selling the same gun NIB for only $50+/- more than these many are trying to sell off their used guns for. Buyers will rather pay the extra $50 and buy the gun new from the manufacturer; I know I would. Plus, many warranties only apply to the original purchaser. It does not matter how much, for example, the OP originally paid for his used gun. What matters is the current market and what others are selling the item for both new and used.

OP, being that most potential buyers will be right handed, I don't really think your lefthanded holster is sweetening the deal.

Higher end stuff gets put on the block too, but to lesser quantity ......and those that would look to purchase such are usually immune to economic cycles.

Everything will sell and is still selling if the price is right for the current market. Right now it's a buyer's market, so even manufacturers are offering rebates and lowering prices.

I'd have no problem selling Taurus and other budget priced pistols. I see them selling for more than I personally want to pay on Gunbroker regularly. I often watch hoping to "steal" a range toy for really, really cheap, but I haven't been able to do so on GB thus far even for the budget priced lower quality used guns.

Saw HK VP9 had price knocked down at one shop.
Pythons and SA35 were still at reg prices

List it on TaurusArmed.com or Gunbroker. It will sell.

I looked at the Tuarus you had listed and see that it sold. Thats good. The world is jam packed with 9mm handguns and that was probably why it was a slow seller. I listed a very nice S&W I-Frame on the S&W forum and was told it would be worth $700. I couldn't get $600 for it or even a counter offer. So I still have it.

Guns I have listed on GB didn't sell well either. I think we have reached the point of saturation in gun sales. It will take more riots and some serious moves by the Gov on gun bans to get gun sales moving again. Plus with some of the issues with finding certain ammo some guns aren't selling. I found a very nice Marlin in 35 Remington but finding ammo, brass or bullets is very hard. Ammo that is for sale cost several dollars per round. So I had to pass on the gun.

2 years ago it was a sellers market. I thinned my herd and did well. That has dwindled and is now a buyers market atleast in my area. LGS has racks galore full. That was not the case a couple of years ago.

I have 2 S&W M-10s-very reasonably priced- awaiting my NJ Permits to Purchase, the proprietors of the gun shops where they are told me revolvers, especially older Plain Jane ones are not moving.

Tax time is tough time of the year for selling anything.
Bunch of folk as 'saving up' for summer vacations.
Ammo costs are up.
Inflation is cutting into shopping budgets.
Also, there's a huge amount of market saturation in handguns. There's pretty much a Goldilocks for everyone, so, a given firearm may not be as keen an item for a person to buy as another. Certain Brands get more attention than others, too.
Tough times all around.

For the most part, guns are a "fun" purchase made with expendable/disposable income. At least for responsible folks. Back after Covid when every one and their brother received over $3000 of "free monies", lots of folks had a windfall of expendable/disposable income. Because of this "toys" like guns, were very popular. Then there were all the ban scares. Folks who never wanted a AR type rifle thought they better get one while they still could.......if they could find one. Now they are everywhere and cheaper than ever. No need to go on about all the other scares of this or that being banned, and the big push of CWC and Self/Home Defense. Folks felt a gun and multiple guns were now a necessity. Then came the big jump in home, vehicle and food prices. Gas went up along with doing anything else fun like going out to eat, staying at a hotel or going to a concert. Inflation has taken a big bite out of most folk's expendable/disposable income. Add to the fact that so many bought more than they really "needed" as far a firearms go.....demand has dropped off significantly. Around here, the 2 LGSs are actually selling new Colt revolvers for MSRP or below......and they are still sitting in the display case. Maybe there is anew fad out there. Back in the early 2000s, it was Harley's. Everyone wanted one and there were none to be found. Couldn't hardly go past a driveway and not see one sitting there. Now, the dust has settled. Around here, the newest fad is UTVs. Just like Harley's a few years back, dealers are out of stock and waiting for more. Prices, like demad is high. Same goes for trailers to haul them on. Try to book a hotel/motel anywhere in the area with access to trails......good luck. I'd bet a fair amount of those same folks that were ridin' their motorcycles back in 2010, were at the gun range with their new guns a coupla years back....are now are out on the trail with their new UTV.

brand new, original box and paperwork, four high capacity magazines and a brand new left hand leather iwb holster ... $185. I'm easily $60 to $100 below what I see them selling for

I'm just gonna leave it out there and see if it sells
I am curious. What are you selling?

And have you considered posting on THR "Buy, Sell, Trade: Handguns" subcategory? - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?forums/buy-sell-and-trade-handguns.22/

If it's a good deal, maybe there are THR members who would be interested local to you.
