"New" CZ 83 In .380

Stopped by the LGS yesterday, and they had this gem in the case. It looks like it's been sitting in the box, since it was purchased in 2007. It was manufactured in late 2005, based on the target results.

I cleaned it, lubed it, and took it to the range. I ran about 100 rounds of reloads and factory ammo through, and no malfunctions at all. It's very accurate, and the relatively large frame really soaks up recoil.

I already own a CZ 83 in .32ACP, and this one will be a great "partner"

Looks exactly like my CZ combo: a P01 with a Kadet .22 conversion assembly. When I was buying my P01 the sales clerk said that the Kadet conversion would fit on it and that if I was interested they would make me a great deal on it. Well they did and I got both for a really good price. The Kadet slide needed a little fitting to get it on the P01 frame but it worked out fine and now I have two CZ guns in one.

Finally found a CZ last Sunday. This thing makes ammo disappear like crazy....

Researched a lot and just didn't find anyone who had a lot of bad to say about the CZ pistols. Picked out the basic model and brought it home. The pistol is smooth and fits my hand very well. It's a keeper if it is as accurate as it feels :) I think it will only be the first of quite a few CZ's I will own over time.

A couple of my favorites and the bottom one is new to me and maybe NIB. Got the CZ70 a couple of months ago. Also have a glossy 75b with an amazing trigger.

BTW, the wood grips in post #2206 will be on sale fairly soon. Going a different direction with my SP-01 and the wood grips won't fit the look. I'll put them in the selling section here.

Have any of you colored in the letters on the slide? I have done other pistols with varying success depending on the depth of the letters. I have the color on hand that matches the red safety mark. Thoughts or pictures of what you have done? Then adding the Coco Boco grips to finish the look. Here's what I did tonight. Still not sure I like it or not. I will wait until I see it with the new grips to decide.+

I happened into this CZ 550 in 6.5x55 a few years back on a local forum, Traded a ruger 77r 300 winny for it, It's been a great shooting rifle that's not hard to look at either.

Well here is the final product. Some will like it. Some will not. Just tried to make it a little different. I had the opportunity to shoot it last weekend. I was pleased well enough to make it a keeper and at it to my stable of good pistols.

Looks really good, Milkmaster! It's amazing how much better [and even higher end] wood grips can make the CZs look. :)

Need to keep the CZ Club thread going! Here are some of mine.

I find CZs to be some of the most beautiful, nicest shooting guns in the world. This is coming from a die hard Glock user.

It only took me 56 shooting years to discover CZ and now I own one ... CZ75B. My modernized "T" series BHP is still my favorite 9mm pistol, but right now the CZ is getting shot a lot more.

I've only had two real annoyances with the gun. The first was the bottom plates on the magazine bruising my pinky finger during long firing sessions. But I fixed that by removing the plate and bending that "tab" downward. Fits my hand so much better now.

The other is the barrel's very short leade. Cartridge OAL of 1.060" is fine with certain bullets; 1.061" and the bullet touches the rifling and causes hard chambering. That too was easy to fix.

I guess the factory worries about corrosion a lot or something. I never really knew what "swimming in oil" meant until I got this gun. Same for the Mec-Gar magazines. Again, easy to remedy.
