it's spelled schmeky

look in the homegunsmithing section at CZforum.

either the beta sear thread or the interest in shorter trigger reach.

his mod looks pretty solid for those needing a shorter trigger reach.

This picture isn't anything new or exciting to most of the folks here.

However, I am thrilled with my new SP-01. Not just how it looks.... but how it shoots since I got it back from the CZ Custom with the "customer hammer" job and firing pin block removal.

I have to say that I wasn't in love with the looks of the SP-01, but bought it on reputation.

It was NIB and I had only run a couple boxes through it and I was generally pleased. That before I tested the trigger on a friend's gun who had just gotten his back form CZ Custom. I sent mine in the next day.

I got it back last week and I'm extremely pleased with the trigger and how this gun shoots. Now, it gets more "beautiful" every time I pick it up.

I'd like to ask scmeky what to do.

But I looked at the member list and he wasn't there.

How do I get hold of scmeky?
PM "schmeky".

He is a very helpful fellow. On his advise I installed a Competition Hammer on my CZ97B. He gave me some pointers via PM. The trigger is absolutely superb now. AC

I've always been amazed by how many guys on forums like this claim to be able to shoot sub-3" off-hand groups at 20 yards.

While lots of folks can claim superior accuracy, citing small groups at great distances, I've not seen it in the real world nearly as often as I've read it.

Nice shooting!

100 yards
CZ-75B .40 S&W
Custom Reloads (Unique powder and Berry's plated 155gr)
Shot offhand "Bullseye style" with plenty of witnesses.
10 rounds (two off target to the left)

(Note, bottom two touching holes were from someone with a rifle who was sighting in and hit my target next to his...grrrrrrr).

Disclaimer: This was a VERY good day but I've noticed that when you put 4-6k rounds a year through your pistols you seem to have "very good days" a little more often <grin>.

dondavis3,

I have a CZ-75 that belongs to a forum member in my shop now getting the DA pull reduced. It moves the trigger back 4-5mm and shortens the actual double action "stroke" about 20-25%.

Makes a noticeable difference.

ZeSpectre,

Awesome shooting, I believe you. CZ's have excellent accuracy built-in, they just need a little trigger help to extract it.

Just got my Pre-B 75 back from The Revolver Armorer with a semi-gloss black GunKote finish. Added the set of Hogue G-10 grips.

I am not that great at long range yet, this is the Phantom at 50 yards, two hand hold standing,

Phantom50yardsfactory.jpg

...and trying it benched,

Phantomat50yards-1.jpg

But someday soon when I make it out to the range and the long range isn't completely taken over I'l run a B-27 out to 100 yards. This gun is too much fun to shoot!:):D:cool:

I tried out Schmeky's Cajun Trigger (Stock 75B hammer with hooks modified same as Comp hammer) AND adjustable sear with 240 rds of my reloads. Light loaded 124 & 125 gr at 130+PF, using "Federal SPPs". I took 2 additional hammer springs with me to the range. My pistol: 9mm CZ75B, 11# recoil spring, 13# mainspring with one coil cut, slightly 'lightened' trigger spring, extended firing pin. 30k rds + so Schmeky put in a new "adjustable" sear AND increased the mainspring weight to 17#. It still has the FPI required for USPSA Production class..
Before I shot, I dry fired the trigger in all modes. The DA trigger position IS noticeably improved/shortened (for my short trigger finger). It let me improve my grip. Everything performed normally except the safety CAN be engaged at the half-cock position.

40rds with 17# Mainspring:

DA was very smooth to hammer drop, but much heavier on the pull than I was accustomed to. The drop caught me by surprise with less "build-up of trigger pressure.
At Half-Cock, the hammer is farther forward than it was. The pull was very smooth and not quite as heavy as DA. I never use half-cock.
SA was a thing of beauty with a really smooth pull to bang---it caught me by surprise. The hammer does cam back a very small amount , but you wouldn't know it with your eyes closed. I know it's needed as a margin of safety for sear engagement. Even with the heavier mainspring, the SA was a nice improvement.

I shot 200 rounds with the 13# mainspring. Instead of trying the 15# mainspring, I went straight back to my 13#. The trigger pull change was dramatic. I wish I had a trigger gage, because it was a nice light pull.

DA IMO was better than the Custom Shop Shadow because of the trigger 'starting' position. Pull was REALLY SMOOTH and light, and the break was great.
Half-Cock was no different than DA except for the shorter pull to break.
SA was close to a classic fine trigger. there is a little slack due the FPI (I left in for Production Class Req.) and a small amount of hammer camming, but you wouldn't know it without watching the hammer closely.

NO FTF's with the 13#(-) spring. 200 rds is not enough to say it won't ever FTF, but I saved my brass labelled for the heavy and light springs. By eye, the primer strikes look to have the same depth and diameter with both mainsprings. the extended firing pin may have solved a possible problem.

See pics: Trigger "pins" are on the same graph lines
Top row of cases are struck by 17# mainspring
Bottom row by 13# mainspring

Why would I want a heavier trigger, unless I find the lighter spring does occassionally FTF?

NO, I hope not - for a short answer.

Marschal grips, picked up on ebay. This thread ALWAYS needs photos!

Fell in love with my CZ52 again today...fantastic gun that lights up the night on the range. Can't say that for most pistols.

CZ Convert

A couple years ago I went to a CZ 75B Omega after I just couldn't adjust my Sig P226 grip enough where it wouldn't put pressure on the slide release, preventing the slide to lock on the last round. BLESSING IN DISGUISE.

CZ's are the greatest secret (maybe not so much anymore) in the Gun World today, IMO. Great ergo, inverse slide, cold hammer forged barrel, uber accurate and reliable as they come. I have NEVER had a misfire with my 75B Omega and it must be 3 or 4 thousand rounds at this point, if not more??

A couple weeks ago I added the CZ SP-01 Tactical in .40 S&W. WOW...light recoil, very smooth action...SUPERBLY accurate. I am blown away with this weapon..truly a Cadillac of the .40's. Say what you want about the heavy steel frame...it works magic on this pistol.

Hello life and welcome to the forum. Be careful, two cZs together tend to multiply. Have you visited czforumsite?

CZs were the greatest kept secrete, for years. But no more, the dollar is weak, the Euro dollar is strong. At the moment, CZs are well made, but you are paying full price. The real best kept secrete is the Steyr M9 A1. Dare I say it out loud, that they have much better grips than a Glock, substantially better trigger pull. In short they took the design well past Glocks and improved the it. Heck the cartridge is fully supported in a Styer in .357 and .40. No more Glock Ka Booms. But don't tell anybody. :D

Hey that's cool, a CZ Club. I have four of the little critters, two CZ82s, the first one was just so great I had to buy another, an older CZ75B and a CZ52. I love the 75B, it just feels perfect in my hand. The 52 is kinda funky but you can shoot it all day on pocket change using milsurp ammo.

I will be picking up my newly purchased CZ 83 on Fri. or Sat., depending on conflicting schedules and am allready looking forward to cycling quite a few rounds through it. Here's my question though, I plan on using this weapon as a carry piece after I get my license of course, I am looking for a recommendation for a "crossdraw" holster as one side is paralyzed and the strong side all ready has a wallet, cell phone, etc on that side.
I would prefer actual use experience information so I can make a better and more well informed decision. I have seen or looked at a multitude of websites but, I don' think I've seen a "sit, stand, walk,, hobble, joke at me,, holster yet. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
FIST makes a variety of holsters and all are available for the CZ83. The 46 might work for your needs: http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/46.htm The 42 is another possibility: http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/42.htm FIST also is the absolute KING of special order options: http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/opalt/Default.htm

I traded in my Kahr club membership yesterday for a CZ club membership.

Got a used P-06.

My VZ58 was feeling like an oddball, being the only czech in the collection. Hopefully they will bond well.
