What's the difference in a Colt Detective Special and and a Colt Cobra?

The Cobra has a lightweight frame (Aluminum?). I'm sure dfariswheel will be along shortly to tell us more.

Older Detective Specials were made with longer grip frames than the Agent and Cobra. In later years, all three were made with short grip frames.

Snake eyes is correct. While the small Colts varied some over time, the only real difference was the metal the frame was made from. The other was time. The "dick special" came out in 1927; the alloy frame Cobra was not introduced until 1950.
