The end of a Speed six, and Ruger CS.

A friend of mine inherited his Dad’s Service Six when his Dad died. Gun was over 30 years old and had tens of thousands of rounds through it. Mostly .357 since his Dad was a hand loader. That was the first .357 I fired when I was about 14.

The gun was a bit loose so my buddy called Ruger. They said send it in. They brought it back to new condition. Even re-blued it after getting his ok. Sent it back with new factory grips in a new box sent the old grips back too. Total cost was zero.

Stories like yours are great, but from what I hear it’s hit or miss. Sometimes they sell you a new gun at a discount. Sometimes they want to charge you. I have 2 Service Six’s. One in .357 and one in .38. I’d hate it if something bad happened to them.

Warms my heart. Especially since I have 12 Rugers. Never a problem, but if I do....

This is why I own over a DOZEN ruger firearms. They are the best American gun maker, independent and honest and just an amazing company. I own stock fair disclaimer but I bought the stock after the guns.

That's about the best customer service I've ever heard of.

I've owned various Rugers over the past 50+ years, and have occasionally needed to return one for service. Always good results. Back in the '70s, when the stainless Security Sixs were first introduced, I bought a new one. It had issues, so I returned it to the factory. Ruger replaced the gun at N/C. Much more recently, I bought a new GP100. It had issues. After it's second trip back to the factory, a nice lady at Ruger called me and said they would like to replace my gun at N/C. I was given a choice, and chose a new GP100 Match Champion. It arrived about three weeks later. I recently bought another new Ruger. Only one range trip with it, and all went well. But if an issue were to arise, I have little doubt Ruger would provide the same excellent customer service they've provided in the past....

I'm more than impressed. I own several Rugers. So far, I haven't been able to need their service department, but confidence based on what I've heard made me comfortable with being a beta tester for the LCP-MAX.

One of my other Rugers is also a Police Service Six, once carried by my dad in uniform. Haven't shot it loose yet. ;)

Glad you weren't injured and Ruger probably is too. I heard a great many raving reviews of Ruger's legendary CS, but yours takes the cake. Thanks for posting as I've got the identical Speed Six born in 1980 I will keep an eye on.

Great stories, all. The fact they are true is great too! I have a Security Six born in '79, nice to know Ruger has great CS. Have a couple more contemporary firearms of theirs, good to know they're covered well.

Sweet deal.

Like everyone here I hate to see a classic revolver like that speed six bite the dust, but at least you were able to receive a firearm that you wanted as a replacement. I don’t know if any other gun manufacturer would go the extra mile like that… but I’m glad Ruger did.

(Full disclosure: Not associated with Ruger at all, but like a few posters above I own a lot of Ruger firearms…21 at last count… and I really can say I like all of them.)

Stay safe.
