I sometimes cringe at the term EBR, or Evil Black Rifle because I don't like what it hints at. With that said, I recently had an encounter with a truly evil rifle; the newly named Evil Walnut Rifle.

It seduced me from the display rack, whispering sweet things into my ear until I asked to hold it. It further tempted me by coming up nicely and resting easily on my shoulder. Oh, the silky action! The warm wood!

The irresistible sale price!

What else could I do but bring her home.

This is my new CZ 550 American in .270 Win. I just mounted the Weaver Nitrex 3-10X50 tonight, and hope to take it to the range this weekend.

Yes, I admit it: I'm weak.:)

I have had that same rifle sitting in my safe for the last 4 months. It is flat killing me that its not mine. We are giving it away as a raffle prize for hunter education. I have bought more than a few tickets for myself and kids.;)

I have already made it clear that if I win. I will not be doing the noble thing and donating it back to hunter ed to raffle again next year. Not this one.

Nice rifle sir. I have adopted the term PBR ( pretty brown rifle) when I talk to the tacticool crowd.

Can't wait to find out how it shoots! Dang that wood is sooo purdy...I dunno, it just looks like a cross between a leopard and tiger pattern...
 
This thread reminds me of why I love CZ so much...and why I have to keep fighting the urge to buy more of their products.
 
Yep, weak, just like me! Man what a pretty rifle. I'm going to have to get out more, didn't really know there were these kids of weapons like this. WHEW, beautiful wood. Just glad I'm not the only weak one out there!!
 
Looks superb! I bought a CZ 452 Full Stock (Mannlicher) that I scoped with a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x scope. That rifle performs so well, my interest in piqued on the centerfire offerings. I'll take mine in .308 please :)
 
Thanks again, guys! She has a little rack wear from being on display so she isn't perfect, but I intend to use it so I wasn't overly concerned. I know I won't have much time this weekend, but hope to get it sighted in fairly closely, then work on groups later.

I really wasn't exactly in the market for a .270, but I simply couldn't leave it alone on that cold shelf any longer.

Very nice, indeed! I love Mannlicher stocks!
 
My locale dealer has a nice 700 with heavt wood, and heavy barrel that I, would love to have. but an other caliber, is not on my adgenda right now. Congragulatin on the nice find.

I started to post that I have been seduced by good wood before as well, but then thought better of it......
