Today is the first day of fall. The first day of Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, is my marker to reminder me that it's time to shoot off my carry ammo. I normally remove it at the range then replace it when finished. It's just too expensive to waste.
I know that it is not necessary but on or as close to the first day of each new season, I shoot off my carry ammo then do a through cleaning and lubrication job on my carry gun, a S&W Model 640 .38 Special, including removing the cylinder and side plate, two things I normally don't do for a regular cleaning. Then load her up with fresh ammo.
Do you have the same or similar ritual and or time table?
